DVC cruise on points

Re: DVC cruise on points
First off, HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME! I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise on the wonder in 03. I was a teenager at the time and had the option of going to the teen club or just hanging out with my friend that came along. We could shop we could walk around on deck it was great. If your kids are under 14 they can go to the kids club and I heard that kids have a great time there too, some don't even want to leave! There is tons of stuff for adults to so go exercise or go to the spa or get a coffee! Just have fun!!

Re: DVC cruise on points
I LOVE the Disney Cruise Line - you should have a ton of fun!!
About trip insurance: your most obvious reason to get trip insurance would be that you will be sailing during hurricane season. A hurricane would be the most likely reason for a cancelled cruise on Disney's part, but July doesn't see as many huricanes as August and September so you should be fine. DCL does a pretty good job at dodging and going around most storms as well. With that said, if you had to use your trip insurance (God forbid!), it probably wouldn't be because Disney cancelled the cruise.

Re: DVC cruise on points
We've used our DVC points for a Disney Cruise in late October 2003. Due to unforeseen circumstances in 2002, we had a lot of points to use up. So we splurged and did a 4 night cruise on the Disney Wonder followed by a 4 night stay in a studio at the BWV. We also stayed one night at the ASMu the night before our cruise, but didn't use points for that.
Many in the various DVC communities feel using points for DCL is a "waste," but I disagree. They're your points, use them however you see fit...and if a DCL vacation is what you want, go for it and use your points to offset the cost!
We didn't get the insurance as we really didn't see the need at that time.

Re: DVC cruise on points
Yep, there was plenty for DH and I do on our DCL vacation. DCL does a good job with kid, teen, family, and adult areas/activities.
