DVC Fitness Area Benefits @ Resorts Other Than Where You're Booked?

This is actually a 2 parter, but as I have been thinking about which kidney to sell to pay for DVC, I've been mulling over many thoughts. I know that as members you get free access to the fitness facilities while staying on property, but is it similar to the pool benefits? If I like the gym @ the Contemporary over the gym at the Boardwalk (for example, haven't seen either of them) can I go to the Contemporary gym even if I am staying at Boardwalk?

Second question is, has anyone observed any one fitness facility to be much nicer than another?

I'm not 100% sure about gym hopping itself - I think you can as long as you are staying on site at a resort that has its own gym facility, but you may need to ask once you are on property. Not sure if it is limited to DVC-based gyms or not. Don't call and ask - you won't be talking to someone who even works at the resort (or anywhere on WDW property even), and would probably give you a random answer.

I'm not familiar with the gyms ( ), but I've heard a lot of praise for the one at SSR, at least among DVC properties. Most of the others are kind of the same.

As long as you're staying at a Deluxe you can use gym facilities at any deluxe resort DVC or not free . There is a gym at Coranado Springs thats pretty good also and thats a moderate. You can purchase gym usage for an additional price (its around 20.00) if your staying on property at say a Value and you want use gym @ a moderate or Deluxe but u have to be staying on property.
The best gym on property by far is Saratoga Springs. I use that gym alot.
The best gym off property is at Golds Gym which is located at the Universal Studios exit. I paid 25.00 for whole week in May and had 24 hour access. I also use this gym alot. If you have to pay for gym usage use this one...it is awesome, I wish we had a golds gym here at home.

Awesome, thank you both for the info. I'm usually pretty bad about working out when in 'the world' but I go often and always end up falling out of the routine for an extra week when I go, so I wanna get better at not getting into a rut.

there is absolutely no way i would step into a gym while on a WDW vacation... and take this from someone who goes to the gym 5-6 days a week...

LOL for me that is PART of my vacation too. I love the gyms there and think about them when I get back home when I'm in mine. I too spend a considerable time in 2 gyms as well as the one in my home too.
But I guess its like me driving to WDW..I drive for a living and I don't care how much a flight is..I ain't driving!!

yeh... thats how i feel... but hey... i hear and saw them... they look legit... i just make sure im not prepared for it... this way i am not tempted to go there...
