New (temporary) perk announced today - heavily discounted Premium AP

DVC announced today that starting October 1st, DVC members will be able to purchase a Premium Annual Pass for just $399 ($300 off!), when purchased by 12/31/2012. PAPs purchased as part of this offer need to be redeemed/activated by 12/31/2013.

I'm old, I remember the AP being included as a perk for DVC when they first launched.

Do you think this small perk overall is the attempt to off-load a chunk of Disney DVCs surplus prior to the GF's DVCs are launched into the inventory of DVCs?

I don't know ... seems to limited to be used as a selling point for new member contracts. If they wanted to do that, they could make it a perk of sale, not a general perk.

I don't know the motive, but I'm pshyched! I'm here at BLT and told other members yesterday at the hot tub and we are all going to buy them since you don't have to activate them until 12-31-13. I've been a member since 1994 and got the free passes til 2000. I have to say.... this isn't a small perk for my family of 6.... this is amazing! We have fine tuned out strategy of banking points one year and blowing it out over 4-5 trips the next year and buying AP. the 20% discount on purchases is amazing ... even work on the DCL! Too many benefits to name.... just glad they are doing this!
