No idea.
But I often wonder why some characters, say the ones above, have been making appearances in WDW the last few years...but seem more scarce in DL?
Something strange happened at Disneyland and it seems that nobody knows anything about it.
I was over at Disneygeek and under 'Disneyland resort' 'Pictorial Updates' I noticed down on October 26, 2007 there was a photo of a Country Bear. (They haven't been in the parks in years.)
I looked through the update and starting on pg. 12, there's a whole bunch of pictures of characters who haven't been seen in Disneyland for years (if ever). Besides the Bears (yes, plural), there was Friar Tuck, Launchpad McQuack, the White Rabbit, Baloo and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
I can't find any further information. Does anyone know about this? Were they around any other days? Will they be back? What happened and what will happen next?

Maybe, they are judging guest interaction and response to sort of decide who the next big character is going to be. Or, maybe they are just bringing back the classics for the next theme (after YOAMD). "Disney thru the Years" that would be fun. If any of the CM's on the boards know please share with the rest of us miserable mortals who have to work somewhere a lot less exciting. Thanks.
I noticed Scrooge McDuck was in WDW's Christmas parade. I don't think I've ever seen him anywhere else in the parks.
Uncle Scrooge makes appearances at both MNSSHP and MVMCP in my experiences. We have a picture of him somewhere. I was in line for Donald, but they switched before we got there and it was Uncle Scrooge.
We've also seen him during the day, rarely, near MK's entrance.

A lot of the time those are the characters used when training new character attendants.
I know that in WDW, Launchpad can be seen outside Animal Kingdom at least once a week in the morning
and the bears are out almost everyday in hidden corners in Frontierland (and Adventureland during the parade)
I think that in Disneyworld they have so many characters for big events that they have to do something with the cast members at the other times so they bring out the more random characters. Disneyland doesn't really have as many large events, so they have less cast members, so therefore less random characters.

We saw a bunch of the Country Bears out for the Jamboree thing that is held at various times of the day in Fronteirland. Unfortunatly when we saw them it was dark so not the greatest pics.
We saw Baloo at the front gates of AK.
It's a Disney thing. If you understood, your only question would be "can I go?"

Whenever I go to WDW< these characters are usually hanging around Main Gate. Friar Tuck, The Bears, Sheriff and such. I do have to agree with a pp who said they use these characters for training purposes....both for those in costume and escorts.
