Disneyland and Other Disney Parks Discuss Disneyland Space Mountain seasonal? in the Miscellaneous Disney forums; I don't remember where, but I read DL's SM was in seasonal operation. Is this true? If it is, I sure hope they don't do that for our SM....

I don't believe it's seasonal. It was decorated for the season, and it was closed for a few years for refurb until 2005, but I'm pretty sure it's not seasonal

I knew all that, but it was a poor choice of words for the person to say "I feel sorry for the people that go to Disneyland and can't ride this because it's closed or has a 120min way because SM is seasonal" I wouldn't think they would make such a huge ride seasonal, but ya never know.

SM packs them in a little better than the seasonal attractions.

It was commanding some MASSIVE lines in October, and stays pretty busy all year round. It's a headliner!

But it is open all year round (unless it's usual refurb). If the author of that statement was refering to Ghost Galaxt Space Mountain, I can understand what they intended. I felt the same way! If your ONLY chance to go to Disneyland was during October, then I hope you fast passed it because the 75-120minute lines were rather daunting!

But the wait was so worth it! While others might complain about this being missed time from the attraction, it is bringing the locals back, which in truth is the backbone of the Disneyland Parks. (Disclaimer: I am not a local!) The only thing I can say that kinda might, maybe, coulda help, would be, at least it only comes down for a few days to get set up rather then the weeks of the Haunted Mansion. Another downside is, it really really freaks out little kids, (and some adults)! That takes it away from being a family ride.
So yes, please get your fastpasses early. In Oct. Space Mountains they will be gone before 11 am, and I did see the wait times hit 150 minutes twice. Best bet, get it first thing in the morning, and when the wait time is done, go grab another!

    Re: Disneyland Space Mountain seasonal?

I can understand your reservations, but at the moment wait times approach the same. During anytime the resort is busy Space Mountain easily reaches 100m.

Ghost Galaxy is actually about a 3-5 day downtime for the entire attraction and compared to other overlays(HM) it is quite quick. Taking it down only lasts about 2 days.

As for WDW, I don't think that they would receive any overlay as they have clearly demonstrated their reservations with holiday overlays.

    Hope this has helped.
