My family went to disneyland last year for the first time and World of Color was still being built, so I hope we go back maybe next summer because it does look really incredible!!
Hey guys,
Has anyone seen the new nighttime show World of Color in Disneyland? I have only seen videos of it and it's breath-taking. I couldn't imagine what it must be like in real life! Tell me what you think of the new show! Tell why!
Have a magical day!![]()

We saw WoC last month and it was incredible. Anyone who watches it and doesn't get choked up probably has no business being there. I would recommend reserving a picnic lunch for the preferred viewing. For $15 each, these meals were the least expensive option that did not require a 2 hour wait for a fastpass. We pre-ordered the picnic option once on-line for the first show, then did a walk-up picnic purchase for the second show on another night. Both times we were standing at the front in the blue section and had a great view.
Oh yeah, you'll be looking to download the music when it comes out. The show was the best part of our trip.
Saw this one last month at a Cast Member preview and it was awesome! I hear a lot of "Isn't it like Fantasmic?" Yes, it has similiar elements of Fantasmic, but they've kicked the whole mist screen technology up a notch, and done away with live performers. It also doesn't have one single cohesive story. It's more like the most touching display of key moments and Disney art. It's very moving, and stunning. Definately a show in it's own right! (I'll save all the statistical info for my article in an upcoming Celebrations issue.)
Here's what's great about it - The Traffic Control. Walk in first thing in the AM and get a fast pass (they are free) or pre-order a meal option the day before. They vary from picnics to full on dinner service at the wonderful Italian restruant in DCA. The fastpass is the "free" way to see the show.
DO NOT COUNT ON BEING ABLE TO WALK IN AT SHOWTIME AND FIND A VIEWING SPOT W/O A FAST PASS!!! Yes, you CAN see it from anywhere surrounding the lagoon, but you'll see it backwards or from the side where many of the effects are minimized if not completely lost. (I'll be checking out the disabled parking on my next trip this coming Sunday.)
Things to note:
You'll be STANDING throughout the 20 minute show, and if you show up at the begining of your fastpass window, you'll be standing for around 90-120 minutes total. That can seem like a LOT of time on your feet after a long day at the parks, so be as prepared as possible.
The best viewing spaces are higher up! You can really view all the effects well from an elevated platform, so it's okay NOT to arrive right at the begining of your fastpass window.(Which will save your feet!)
WEAR LONG SLEEVES and/or a hoodie! If you don't want to get wet, aim for standing as far back from the lagoon as possible. If over 1000 fountains shooting 200ft into the air hit a breeze, you WILL get a wet. Or if a breeze hits the 380 ft. mist screen, you're gonna feel like you're in a light drizzle for 20 minutes. So be prepared for that when it comes to your little ones who might not find a drizzle comfortable late at night.

I'm so glad you gave us that info. I'm seeing it next month for the first time and those are extremely helpful tips, thanks!

Your welcome!
Just checked out the Picnic dinners and I think we'll be skipping them this time around, however they seem like an okay value. You get a fastpass for the show, a meal, and a World of Color tote bag. You can pick them up before hand (11am-8pm). Kids are the same price as adults ($15/person) and they have a variety of meals available.
There are some available day-of event, however they are in limited supply so if you know when you'd like to see the show, you may want to consider ordering ahead!![]()

I'm hoping to get out the DL one more time before Labor Day, which is when they will be ending the nightly show, but should still be running it on the weekends. The last two times I have gone out there did not work out. The first show I had a pass for was cancelled, and all the fast passes were gone on the second trip. As I'm not a local, it is getting expensive for me to keep going out there to try and see it. One day!![]()

From what I've heard from some folks "in the biz"- the great thing about this show is that it definately CAN be changed seasonal (though that might be subject to cancelation a lot in the fall as it can get REALLY windy out here). Hang in there! It'll be around for a long while!![]()

I saw this show two nights ago now. I'm back in Boise, unfortunately, and all I can say is move over WDW. This show is great!
