Question: Upgrading To An Annual Pass

Have just been doing some calculating, and think it's probably worth me purchasing an annual pass for Disneyland, as I'm visiting week after next for five days, and then will be returning next year in August for just over a week. I've already booked and paid for my vacation package which includes a 5-day park hopper ticket.

What I would like to know is, is it possible upgrade my park hopper when I arrive, to a Disneyland Annual Pass? If so, this would save me a bundle in the long run, as I would definitely make good use of all the meal/merchandise/tour discounts offered by the Premium-level pass.

Yes, you can upgrade your ticket at any point up until the last day of your trip. You just can't use an expired ticket to upgrade.
Which AP were you looking at getting?

I haven't 100% decided yet - I noticed that the Deluxe AP didn't have any discounts for merchandise (and I do like my shopping!) so possibly the Premium AP... I think i'm right in saying that you get more money off meals with that pass as well?

How interesting. I thought that Deluxe AP gave item discounts, but now it looks like not anymore. Only with Premium and Premiere. That now add another question. Do you plan on going over to WDW any time during that year? If so, then you might need to look at the Premiere. It's just under a $250 difference, but you may just spend that on tickets, and you will also get some sweet discounts on the hotels.

You will benefit from the AP for DLR, but as mentioned, you might want to consider the Premeire for DLR and WDW for making trips in the same year to both coasts.

As much as I would love to be able to get to WDW within the 12 month period, my next scheduled trip to Orlando isn't until October/November 2012, so I think I will just stick with the Premium this time. Thanks for your help guys! :-)
