My Better Half and I stayed at the Grand Californian in February 10. It was very nice, recommend it.
Husband and I are making a trip to Disneyland & Hawaii next year, and we are debating where to stay!
We kinda want to hit up the rest of the Disneyland hotels we haven't stayed at. We've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel before, so we are deciding between staying at Grand Californian or Paradise Pier for our time there? Or split it between the two or all three even?
Any suggestions? Anyone?![]()

I would pick Grand Californian just for the convenience with an entrance into DCA.

That's fine! I LOVED both of my stays at the Disneyland Hotel. Something about the atmosphere and the air that make you really feel like Walt walked among those walls. To me, it felt like it had a great sense of pride in it's history.
We are just thinking of possibly staying some place new, but it's hard to imagine staying away from the Disneyland Hotel!

I'd love to stay in the Disneyland Hotel! I've stayed at the Grand Californian and it seems to look a lot like the Wilderness Lodge from photos I have seen. Anyway, the hotel was fantastic, I loved the stained glass lobby doors and the large fireplace. It's so fun to be within walking distance, I love Disneyland!
thanks guys.. i was thinging the ca. one.. but im thinking disneyland one

We looked at rates for both and it's not much of a rate difference for us for our week long stay! However, I will probably wait to see if they release Marathon dates in January before I book.
Any opinions still appreciated!

I'd say the Disneyland hotel (though undergoing some refrub currently) is the best bang for your buck out of all the Disneyland Resort hotels.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Grand Californian, and if money is no object and you want a theme park view in the AM, it's definately the place to be, but for me, once they went over the $300 mark, I stopped staying there. It simply wasn't worth the value to me. Now- that said, I visit the lobby on a regular basis! But that's really my favorite part. If you really want to give it a go, maybe take 1 night there and enjoy some room service before you leave for the islands? The food is great (and worth every dime)!
The Paradise Peir is fun as well - the rooms are really small though. It's okay to lay your head, but they are smaller (or feel smaller) than the Disneyland Hotel rooms.
Disneyland doesn't do it's Marathon until September. It's WDW that does it in Jan.![]()

I would suggest Grand Californian. It is beautiful, the inside is goregous, you can walk directly into Downtown Disney, and it is a direct link into DCA, so I would go into that one, though Paradise Pier, I havent heard much of, looks nice on the outside, I have never seen the inside or pics of it.
I know that! haha. I'm running the WDW one next week! Well the half one. We can sign up for the Disneyland one on January 3rd, so I am booking the marathon for Disneyland in January!
I think my husband and I have decided to stay at Grand Californian for the week before Hawaii. We've never stayed, and this vacation is going to cost us tons anyways, we are doing some money saving things like bringing snacks with us and we got some Disney giftcards for Christmas that we are saving for our food there! We also may have one to two friends coming with us, so we will see who stays where and whatnot.
After our Hawaiian trip, I think we are going to stay at Paradise Pier. I've read good reviews about the random food counters there, and this way we've stayed at all of them. It will be a bit sat about not staying at the Disneyland Hotel where we've stayed every single time, but come on, we can't complain, we are going to HAWAII! And are somehow being able to afford this wonderfulness! And I'm super excited for everything.
Thanks for all the tips though!![]()
