Team Burnham Raises $125,000 during Disney Marathon

Raising more than $125,000 for medical research and awareness for its presence in Central Florida, scientists and supporters of the Burnham Institute for Medical Research recently competed in Disney's marathon weekend. The 36 runners from "Team Burnham" generated 750 donations from 32 states and 11 countries. "The Burnham Institute for Medical Research is at the leading edge of the race to find new ways to treat and prevent diabetes and obesity," said Elizabeth Gianini, Burnham at Lake Nona vice president of external relations and a runner for Team Burnham. "Participating in the Disney Marathon was a fitting way to show the Central Florida community that we have hit the ground running." Joining Gianini on Team Burnham was Burnham CEO Dr. John Reed, faculty member Maurizio Pellecchia, Ph.D. and 15 Burnham employees from the La Jolla, Calif. campus. Update time: I have begun the new team voice challege for the month. I am up to 8.12 miles so far. I have not been able to do a lot of running because my left shin has not fully healed as I previously thought. I am only able to get 2 miles in before it decides to let me know it's there. I have been icing it and stretching it. it just does not want to heal. besides that I have been able to maintain my weight. I am still at 220 no more, no less. Rae the slogan looks great. Do you know when they will be available? I can not wait to own mine. Hope everyone is doing well. GO TEAM VOICE!

Today-the day after Billy kicked my butt-again!!! My inner thighs are killing me. It hurts to walk and go upstairs. But yet, when I was on the treadmill it wasn't that bad.

It will eventually go away.

I am finally getting caught up on a lot of these posts. Music I have on my ipod when I run: Dream Theater(all of their albums) and Ray Charles greatest hits(puts my mind in a place to focus and not think about the miles). Rae my shoes are only 3 months old and they still look in great shape. I did see a news report the other day about how runners should get new running shoes every 400-600 miles. The news caster made a comment saying "and for people who run a lot that can get expensive". Ah yeah ya think? Rae its great to see you have registered. Lori you better whoop billies butt. Matt saw the blog. I think it looks good. Hope everyone is alright. GO TEAM VOICE!

I kicked HIS butt!!! No pain today! But then again, I did a different workout this time. Not as intense but it helps, right?

Do any of you guys take vitamins as part of your training? And do you track your heartrate?

When I remember to, I take centrium. I want to find a new vitamin because these give me bad indigestion.
