Breaking News: Last year for ToT 13K and Race for the Taste races

I just got an email from Disney Endurance with this information....

"October 2009 is your last chance to run Disney's Race for the Taste 10K & 3K and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ 13K and 5K! These races will not be returning in 2010.

That means it's the last chance to earn medals for these events before they head into the Disney Race medal vault!

Run both the 10K and 13K, and you will also be awarded the Fall Race Challenge medal! Experience the taste and terror of Disney's Endurance Series this fall and take home limited edition finisher medals and lasting memories!

Wow, thats very disappointing

I am attending my 1st marathon in March (Princess Half) and was looking forward to trying one of the fall races in the future.

Aww, that's really disappointing! Well, now it looks like I will be signing up for them (I was on the fence before this).

I spoke to the Disney Endurance representative at the expo for the Rock'n'Roll Virginia Beach about the cancellation of these two races. She says in about a month, they are going to announce a new big race for the fall. She didn't give any additional information.

What I am guessing, it just go be two much to handle (and costs) to have three races in a short period of time. These races are not filling up (As of today: Tower of Terror -13K 55% full 5k 65% / Race for the Taste 10k 65% full), so hopefully they will be taking this effort to make one great race experience.

So, they have cancelled these two races for next year and instead replaced it with the Wine & Dine Half Marathon.

Who is excited about this?

At first glance, I thought it was interesting. However, it starts at 10 p.m. Then the after party runs until 3 a.m. It takes some of us 3 hours to finish the race. Which leaves only 2 hours to enjoy the party, and then crash. Next month will be my first half marathon, but from what everyone tells me you have to stay awake and spend the rest of the day in the parks to work out the legs and let them loosen up or risk severe muscle tightening.

I don't think that Disney hit it out of the park on this one. I would have much rather seen a Pirate or HM themed race. We shall see what comes of this event.
