Best Hotel for Marathon

Does it matter where to stay? I'm trying to think of the best hotel to stay at during marathon weekend next year. On property or off? I know if you stay on property there is the bus transportation for the races. Is it better to stay close to the start/finish line? Or does it just not matter?

I usually stay in value resorts because I try to go low budget. Would I want to upgrade to something a little bit nicer if I'm running?

I'm thinking Beach Club or Boardwalk. That way after I finish the full I can hobble back to my resort. I figure it will help keep my muscles moving.

If you stay there u will have to take the bus in the morning though to the starting line.

I stayed at Pop Century for Marathon Weekend. Very convenient to both the Expo and the starting line. The transportation system was fantastic, never waited more then 10 minutes for a Marathon bus.

I was at Boardwalk this past weekend. I did exactly what lorilovestigger recommended. I walked back to my hotel with no problem. Though, I do hear that you can walk from Port Orleans over to the Start/Finish.

The value resorts must be the place to stay! I couldn't find a room at any of them during that weekend.

Thanks for the input. I will most likely be staying at a value (Pop Century probably), unless one of my girl friends decides to come and cheer me and our other friend on, and then maybe we can connivence her to let us stay in her DVC.

I saw someone walking over. Not sure I would do that though.

Keep in mind that some tour groups come in that same weekend and stay at the values.
