Yeah. I'm an avid runner but I did a lot of unanticipated hills. I did a program that was random and the "hills" were hillier than expected. I'm thinking of signing up for a few races before the big event in January. Is this good practice do you think???

So have you ran in any Disney runs before?
Great idea! I'm planning on running the 5K in January and need all the advise i can get. I havent done much (if any) running since I left the Navy several years ago

Hoping to do the full next year for my 40th birthday but we'll see what happens. I'm having surgery in 2 weeks for plantar fasciitis and it will take awhile until I can run again.
Wow, that's impressive! Ive ran in only one other marathon and that was when I was 25 6 years ago and it kicked my rump. I hit the Wall hard but got up and kept going to finish at 5:56:55. My goal is to destroy that time this Jan. How was the relay? When Lou was talking about it on his Podcast, it sounded fun.
Interesting....What kind of conditioning did you do in the Navy?

He didn't really talk much about it. It was fun but could use some improvements. Especially for those doing the 2nd leg of the race. It was very chilly waiting for your runner coming in and there was no way of knowing when they were close unless you were tracking them and getting updates.
I had fun doing it and would do it again though.
True dat. I can imagine waiting for 3 hours give or take for your Chip/Dale. I was sitting in the Sauna today at the YMCA and I was thinking about Florida's humidity. I don't recall January being moist... But did you find yourself breathing thick air at all during the run???

Have you thought about doing a C25K program? That's how I got started running. It breaks it up into intervals that are pretty easy - 20 to 30 seconds of jogging to start usually. I had an app on my phone that told me what to run, but if you Google couch to 5k lots of programs pop up.
Good luck!
I'm going to be training for my first (gulp) marathon!!! I'm nervous and excited at the same time. runDisney does the best races though, so that makes whatever you are running much easier.
