You can only view and bid on the items at the meet, right???
Lori
Yes, it looks like bidding will only be at the meet. Sorry that this will exclude the people who can't be there this time, but we are considering some exciting ideas for the future.
The painting may have different rules though, so stay tuned for further announcements.
That's what I thought! I'll have to make sure to bring enough $$$ with me. Will credit cards be taken for auction items???
Lori
Okay, I've just confirmed this: Auction items can be paid for with cash or via PayPal!
Ok so let me get this straight.. People who are not going to the event can not bid on the painting right? Hmmmm would I be able to partner up with someone who is going if I wanted to have them bid on the item, and have them pay for it? Any rule against that?? And if there is not...Anyone out there want to be my bidding representative??
no rule against that, Turkey Leg, but let me check with Lou on what the final ruling is on bidding for the painting.
In the interest of trying to raise as much money as possible (and give a fan a chance to buy the painting), I won't say that working something out with an attendee is forbidden.
However - these arrangements have to be made between you and the guest in attendance in advance. Also, FULL payment MUST be made at the close of the auction, and the person in attendance will be ultimately responsible for settling up. If the winning bidder is off-premises and wants to fund the payment, he/she will need to be able to make the payment via PayPal at that time. If the off-site winning bidder is unable to do so, the winning bidder in attendance is resonsible for making payment in their place.
If the winning bidder is unable to settle up immediatley upon the close of auction, we reserve the right to offer the painting to the next highest bidder.
I want to avoid the person in attendance saying that he/she wasn't really the winning bidder, they were doing it for someone else, etc.
Ok all sounds good on that front. Now to find someone who wants to win the big painting for me!
Hi guys. I've been away from these boards for the better part of a year now. Long story, but it's great to be back!
Anyways, I was browsing through this thread and think it is a wonderful idea. I have a lot of experience with fund-raising auctions. In fact, I just did one this spring that raised over 60K for my community.
If you need any help with anything, let me know. I'll be more than happy to help.
