I'm hoping somebody on here may be able to help me. I own a book called 'The Disney Treasures' by Robert Tieman, which when I originally purchased it, came with a CD containing audio from the Walt Disney Archives collection.

To cut a long story short, this past weekend, my 2 1/2 YO nephew came to visit and somehow managed to smuggle his way in to my hallowed 'Disney Room' whilst the adults were pre-occupied. :wow: After re-organising my entire Disney book collection (we're talking over 100 volumes here) in to a hideous mess on the carpet, I was horrified to find he's pulled out the CD from above mentioned book and scratched it to within an inch of it's life with one of my Lightning McQueen die-cast toys. :faint:

Fortunately, none of my books have been damaged and but the CD that goes with Robert Tieman's book is unplayable - arrghh!!! Is there anybody on this forum that may have a copy of this CD themselves, that they would be willing to share with me online? If so, I would be forever grateful

...treated myself to some mail-order Disney magic a few weeks ago and they arrive on my doorstep yesterday:

Volume 2 of the 'Walt's People' book series (by Didier Ghez) - my husband bought me the first one for my birthday this year and I loved it - can't believe I haven't started collecting these volumes before now. Never mind, plenty of time to make a Christmas list for the others - ha ha!

'Disneyland Through the Decades' by Jeff Kurtti - have scanned through and there are some beautiful photos in there - lots of reading material before I head to Anaheim myself in a couple of weeks.

'Wal Disney - His Life In Pictures' by Russel Schroder - very nice collection of pics of Mr Disney throughout his career.

'Windows On Main Street' by Chuck Snyder - wonderful (and very cheap) book about the windows in Disneyland Walt Disney World. Have already read this little gem and it definitely a great companion to the parks.

Thumbs up all 'round! :yahoo:

Yes, I'm a Disney geek and can finally admit it ha ha don't want to write a novel but figure someone could read this and be interested...maybe>? ha

Grew up in North Eastern Ohio, my dad grew up with uncle Walt on the tv. My parents had their honeymoon at the world and they took me there for my first vacation years later. My sister showed up 2 years after me and our family continued to visit just about every year, sometimes more than once. Lots of amazing memories with my family on Disney property. Over the years I went from fascinated to embarassed over my interest to again fancinated. Lately it has been from an engineering/logistics/magic interest and how it continues to happen on a daily basis! Last trip was 03/09 for my 26th birthday, celebrated at the Biergarten in the Germany pavilion then Jelly Rolls  Caught up with this podcast about a year ago and have been working my way through all the back episodes, just about done.

I've lived all over, moving for work and pleasure but haven't found myself working with the mouse just yet, has always been a dream of mine. Lately I've been into helping out canine friends. In my avatar you can see my dog that I rescued from a shelter and am working to use as a therapy dog. Yes he is a "pit bull" and no they are not killers, intense/active dogs that require responsible owners...yes, and I'm proud to be one.

Glad to say hi, Ronnie_B

Hi Folks,

I have been curious about something since Thanksgiving week 2007. We were in DTD in one of the Christmas store and talking to a cashier. Of course she was very friendly and helpful (I guess I should of ask her). She country of origin was China and she had a American type name. Now it could of been her real name I really don't know.

So the question is does Disney use pretend names for CM's with long or hard to pronounce names?

Thanks

So I have been really busy this summer and am now finally able to write up my trip report from my trip to the World from June 19-28th :)

This was a great trip. I went down with my best friend for her college graduation trip and we had a lot of fun!

Day 1--June 19

The night before the trip was when Toy Story 3 was released so my friend Lindsay and I decided we would go see the movie to prepare ourselves for Disney and to get into the Disney Spirit (not like we needed it or anything!) The movie was great and we both bawled our eyes out the last 15 minutes of it!

In the morning, we headed to BWI around 1030 while we waited for our plane. Our plane left around 1230 and landed at MCO around 250. I was ready for this already. I wanted to be in Disney more than anything and had been counting down to this trip since September of 2009 when we decided that we were going to go!

We were using Magical Express but a few days before I realized I had 1.) Never gotten my luggage tags and 2.) Never gotten my passes for Magical Express. I had to change flights/airports due to the original flight I was on changing until 5pm in the evening. That wasn't acceptable to me so I ended up changing to BWI instead of Dulles. When I had changed, my travel agent had cancelled my Magical Express reservation instead of changing the flight information. I realized this 2 days before I left. (Some of you can attest to that, I was in chat and was freaking out!) I ended up having to make new reservation and wasn't able to use the luggage service.

We picked up our luggage from Baggage Claim (which took about an hour. I hate AirTran.) and then went to the Magical Express desk and picked up our reservations. We waited about 15 minutes before the Magical Express bus got there. We were on the bus with Caribbean Beach and the All Star Resorts. We stayed at Pop Century. The whole bus trip took about 45 minutes and I was very pleased with it. I had heard horror stories about Magical Express and at first was a little worried about using it. I was happy and will 100% use it again!

Once we got to POP and checked in, we went to our room. We were in the 50s section on the second level. I loved our room. It was small (definitely not conducive for a family of 4) but it was perfect for my friend and I.

After we unpacked and got settled, we headed over to MK for our first night in the parks!! We met up with Rachel (fungus_01) and her husband in the parks. We went and got a fastpass for Space Mountain and rode Buzz Lightyear. After that, we decided to head to Splash Mountain. This was quite an experience. Just as we got into line, they made an announcement that the ride was temporarily shut down due to inclement weather. Despite everyone else getting out of line, we decided to stay in line since we weren't in a hurry to get things done. We ended up moving to the front of the line with about 50 or so people behind us. While we were waiting, the CMs decided to play a trivia game for those waiting in the line. Only 1 person per party was allowed to play but since Rachel and I were seperate parties we decided to play. About 4 other people played. They asked questions about the park, the movies, and Walt Disney history itself. They asked about what month is Mickey's birthday, who are Donald's nephew, among other things. I ended up winning one round and won a fastpass for Monday (since that was the next day I was going to be in MK). I was proud of myself and felt like Lou would be proud as well (A lot of the stuff I knew from Lou's book!!!) Rachel also won. The CMs asked us how we knew all the info. We just said.. 'wdwradio.com' :) After the trivia game, we waited for about another 10 minutes and then the CMs came around and gave us complimentary fastpasses. So we ended up getting 4 fastpasses for Monday (2 from the trivia and 2 from what the CMs gave us). They then put us on Splash Mountain in the POURING DOWN RAIN! It was the best experience I have ever had on the ride. We were soaked and couldn't do anything about it!

After riding Splash, we headed to use our fastpasses we had gotten earlier from Space. We then parted ways and Lindsay and I headed back to our hotel since we were exhausted and wanted a good night sleep for an early day at Epcot the next morning!

The first day was great! (pictures will be posted later)

Me and my family just recently got back from WDW and it was our first trip together in quite some time. I have been there with my girlfriend 3 times since our last family trip so I was pretty up to date with what was going on even though not much has changed since they have been there. Here is just basically a short description of our trip.

Pro's:
-Not too crowded. Especially during extra hours we were able to walk right onto rides. The longest we waited was for Soarin for 1.5 hours (Normally I would not wait this long but my family insisted, except for my dad who bailed after 10 minutes.) Everything else was less than 30 min.

-Free Food. Free Dining is always awesome. We ate at our favorites (Beaches and Cream, 50's Prime Time, Whispering Canyon.) and some we haven't done before (Plaza Restaurant, Yak and Yeti.) All were great.

-Test Track did not break down

-Bus lines for Pop Century were not too bad.

-We had 2 rooms so 2 bathrooms.

Cons

-Toy Story Mania was down. One of the new things my family wanted to experience and they didn't get to.

-Small World was down. Nostalgic favorite of mine.

-Shops seemed to have depleted some good merchandise. What happened to the holiday houses at the Christmas stores? Where did all the dog stuff go? I wanted to get big water bowls for my dogs and they only had them for tiny dogs. No more cool cookie jars either. Also the Villain shop in MGM is now a Vinylmation shop. The shop by Hall of Presidents is all Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. These stores are becoming less and less unique. They should also get rid of the baking supplies store right outside the Haunted Mansion and sell Haunted Mansion merchandise there. They use to have cool HM merchandise but not anymore.

-Free Food. I know I listed this as a pro but man, I killed myself with all that food. Making reservations also forces you to work your schedule around that reservation.

-Since I was the only one taking pictures there are none of me.

-My feet were killing by the end of the trip.

-I learned that Kali River Rapids is a pointless ride other than to just get soaked. The theming is terrible and it's very boring.

-I hate that they make you get soaked on Splash Mountain now. You don't even get wet on the big hill. You get soaked in the beginning when you go AROUND the big hill.

It was a really good trip, no big fights with the family which is what normally happens. The weather was decent and we did everything we wanted to do. I spent way more money than I had hoped but o well.
It was all worth it.

Hello everyone! My name is Andrew, and as you may have suspected, I love Disney. So, I decided to channel my love of Disney into a blog. Please Stand Clear of the Doors is a blog where i talk about all things Disney! I tell about Disney news, rides, shows, etc. and offer my opinion on them all.

I will try to keep the blog interactive so that you all can tell me your opinions as well in the comments. I will probably post back and talk with you about it.

The Blog will also include pics that I took at Disney, as well as links, books, and other blogs. There will also be a weekly (hopefully) poll. I hope you all enjoy it! Andrew :mickeykid

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of quick questions...

I've booked for my Hubbie and I to go on the Backstage Magic Tour (Friday 11th Sept) and was wondering where you collect tickets if at all for it??

I called to make the booking but the line was bad and I couldn't hear the very nice gentleman who made my booking.

Secondly, can you make the bookings for additional tours face-to-face e.g. at the concierge desk or Ticket and Transportation?? I want to book the Inspiration: Through Walts Eyes and The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tours.

Thanks in advance

Several years ago,we used to eat at Trail's End,over in Ft.Wilderness once every trip to WDW.But on our last 5 trips(just guessing),we did not eat there. So it has been several years since we have actually eaten there. We really loved it a lot.The servers were top-knotch,the place was never crowded, and the food was excellent!
But now,as things have changed,as I know they do,I'd like for those that have eaten at Trail's End in the last 2-3 years,to please comment on how the restaurant is now days.Is it still an "all you can eat buffet",has that changed to a sit down order type?Is the food still as great as it was in our years there? What about the price? How much does it cost to eat there these days?We actually paid around $7 per adult back then and my kids were a lot cheaper than that. How about now?
I'm just looking for some updates on one of our favorite places to eat at WDW.Sadly,I lost my job in '08,and we haven't had the money to go back. But maybe one day we'll get back.Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
