This week, we’re going to visit with the first real wizard in to make his home in central Florida, as we step aboard the Walt Disney World Wayback Machine and talk with Merlin, from Disney’s Sword in the Stone. Merlin crowned the Temporary Ruler of the Realm for many years in Fantasyland, and we’ll talk one on one with a truly magical man who played Merlin - Jim Korkis.

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #184 for the week of August 22, 2010.

This week, I’m pleased to be able to share with you an interview with another Disney Legend. And this one is special because I had the rare opportunity to speak with one of the original Imagineers, and a man who is credited with designing just about anything with wheels for the Disney parks.

He is Bob Gurr, whose work on designing the Monorail, OmniMover, Audio-Animatronics, Main Street vehicles and countless others earned him the Disney Legend status in 2004. I had a chance to sit down with Bob and interview him on stage in front of a crowd of Disney enthusiasts at a recent meet, and recorded the audio to share with you. It’s a fascinating look at the life of a man whose work was instrumental in the development of attractions which continue to delight millions of guests to this day.

I’ll then have a few announcements and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #183 for the week of August 15, 2010.

There is so much more to experience in Walt Disney World beyond the attractions, shows, resorts and dining options. In fact, part of what I enjoy doing on this show is introducing you to things to do beyond the parks that might enhance your vacation, or even give you yet another reason to come and visit. So this week, we’re going to take a look at golfing at Walt Disney World for both the seasoned golfer who may not realize the world-class courses available to them, and those amateurs and ever first-timers who may be looking for yet another way to spend some time on their visit.

In a new Disney contest this week, I’ll ask you to use your ears to see how well you know Walt Disney World. I’ll then have a few announcements about some upcoming Disney meets and events and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.

I just emailed Lou about this, but I know he's probably swamped with emails, so I thought someone on here might know the answer. On the 8 August 2010 episode, during the audio intro at the very beginning of the show, there's a clip sandwiched in between some stuff from Dinosaur! and some of the seance script from Haunted Mansion. It sounds like parade or show music, but I can't place it. Does anyone know?

Sometime during the wee hours of the morning I presented it to Lou as an early congratulations for pulling this idea off and making it so enjoyable. Of course I was so tired that I forgot to get pictures of it, so Lou was good enough to send them to me. I thought I would share them with everyone here.

I’ll then take you to the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon and aboard the Grand One, the most luxurious watercraft at Walt Disney World, as we explore how this cruising experience is perfect for parties, a romantic evening and special occasions.

I’ll announce the winner of our last Walt Disney World Trivia Contest, have a few announcements and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show. So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.

Join Lou Mongello from WDW Radio as he visits the restaurant on its opening day, talks with Patina Restaurant Group CEO Nick Valenti, and samples the flavors and culture of Italy in this new Walt Disney World dining experience

Via Napoli features a selection of classical Neapolitan pizzas, created water calibrated specifically to the pH found in Naples, Italy. A unique feature at Via Napoli is the wood-burning ovens, which are named after the three active volcanoes in Italy -- Mount Etna, Mount Vesuvius and Stromboli. Each oven is sculpted with the "face of the volcano" -- reflecting the gods whose mythology surrounds each volcano's history.

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #180 for the week of July 25, 2010.

This past month, the streets of Harambe Village in Africa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom came to life with a brand new, special event - the nightly Taste of Africa Street Party. Celebrating the culinary and cultural traditions of many African nations, guests could sample a variety of different foods, wines and beers, as well as meet artisans practicing their crafts, all within a high-energy, festival-like atmosphere. This week, I’m joined on the roundtable by others who experienced the party as we discuss all that it entailed, our review of the food and party as a whole, and what the future may hold for this, or other events of this type.

I’ll test your knowledge of Walt Disney World trivia in this week’s contest, where I’ll give you a chance to play and win some Disney prizes, have a few announcements and then play more of your voicemails at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.
She was very excited to have won a Toy Story 3 Barbie and Ken. We still have not received it. Today I am going to the store to see if I can purchase her one since I am tired of seeing her heartbroken everytime the UPS truck passes up our house. I think this is cruel to do this to an 8 year old. Shame on you Radio Disney for stealing her magic!

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #179 for the week of July 18, 2010.

Walt Disney World traces much of its roots to the original Disneyland in California. And with July 17 marking Disneyland’s 55th anniversary, it’s only appropriate that we take a look at how some of Disneyland’s origins have impacted Walt Disney World. Jim Korkis joins me again this week to share some of the true stories behind the stories, as we start in Fantasyland with Cinderella Castle and look back at exactly how and where Disneyland began. And Jim will share with us not just stories that have never been told before, but Walt’s own words that served as the proposal for what would be come Disneyland, and includes many amazing ideas that carried forward to become what we see today in Walt Disney World.

Hello and welcome to The WDW Radio Show - Your Walt Disney World Information Station. I am your host, Lou Mongello, and this is show #178 for the week of July 11, 2010.

Walt Disney’s “Florida Project” brought to Orlando the magic of Disneyland, and plans that would expand upon that idea to a working city and so much more. And while we all have heard the tales of the trips to the Florida swampland, you may never have heard the stories of some of Walt’s original plans for his second theme park. This week, we’ll look at The Walt Disney World That Almost Was with author Chad Emerson, and explore some of the untold stories of where in the world Walt Disney World almost came to be.

I’ll draw a name and randomly call a listener to play Fact or Fiction, where I’ll ask 10 true or false trivia questions about Walt Disney World to give them a chance to win some prizes.
I'll play more of your voicemails and have a few announcements at the end of the show, so sit back, relax, and enjoy this week's episode of the WDW Radio Show.
