How to spend your arrival day

My family and I will be arriving in Orlando on March 12, 2011 for our 1st family Disney vacation. (I can in 1978 so that really doesn't count.)

We looking for flights now and hope to arrive around 2:00 Orlando time.

How long will it take to get to my resort (All Star Movie) and check in? We also want to go straight to the MK. What attractions are possible to get into?

We would love to do some things in Tomorrowland: Space Mountain, Snitch, Buzz Lightyear, Monster's Inc, and Tomorrowland Speedway. We are wanting to make reservations at Tony's Town Square and see Wishes also.

Am I being too ambitious? Just needing some help getting started on the planning.

I'm heading down to WDW from Sept 1 - 8 and I'm reading there are isolated thunderstorms from today all the way to next Saturday. Is it as bad as Weather.com is making it seem or is it sporadic raining?

I notice that OMD was close until Nov 2. Does anyone know what they are doing to it? Is it just a repaint thing or adding stuff, etc?

My youngest son (12 now) just loves that place when we were there in '07 & '08.

Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Question

We're going to WDW in mid-September and will be there for the first date of the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Sept 14). Can anyone give more details about the event? Is it worth attending as just two adults? Do they cap ticket sales at a certain number as I've heard, making for short lines at attractions?

We've managed to score Le Cellier reservations :yahoo: for that same night so it comes down to if we want to finally eat there (months before the change to 2 dining credits!) or if we want to experience a special night at MK.

Any thoughts, info, opinions?

October Illuminations??

Anyone know why Illuminations isn't on the official EPCOT showtimes calendar but is on up through Sept 30th? Do they do they show in October, during food & wine?? I go many times a year and always check this schedule (even though I think it's always at 9pm, I check it anyway) and I'm actually worried that it's not on there. Anyone?

I know I have alot of favorite moments in Disney, but my favorite would have to be MVMCP. It was awesome! I rode splash mt 3 times in a row! The cookies were delicious and the hot coco was to DIE for! Another was the lights at MGM. I think, if I ever went to Disneyland World of Color would be my favorite! Tell me what is your favorite moment, and what could be your favorite Disney moment!

WDW for Frequent Visitors?

Hello everybody!

My family and I are taking a trip to WDW in October. This will be our 14th trip, so we love Disney and are quite familiar with the parks and resorts. I was wondering if there are any frequent visitors out there who have tips as to what we could do while in WDW. It doesn't have to be a ticketed event or cost anything (for example, I think my mom and I might try to go around World Showcase and take our picture in each country with a different hat from that country).

We've done Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party twice in the past, so we're planning on trying Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. We've also done the Backstage Safari Tour at Animal Kingdom.

... so beyond attractions, suggestions do you have for the frequent WDW visitor?

Magic Kingdom: Splash Mountain
Animal Kingdom: T-Rex (not exactly sure the name)
Epcot: Mission Space
Hollywood Studios: Rock N Rollercoaster (TOT close 2nd)

So Im wondering, wat r ur must-do's? and does anyone besides me love Stacy on the disney t.v.'s?????

Villians In Vogue

Hey Disney experts,

Been trolling the boards for awhile, but I now have a question that maybe one of you can help me answer.

I made my first trip to WDW in 2008 at the ripe age of 32 years old. While on this trip, I purchased a coffee mug with all the Disney Villians on it from this store. In 2009, we made another trip (though this time only 3 days as oppose t0 8) and I grabbed another mug featuring all the Disney Villians from the same store - only with a different design.

My question(s): Is there a new mug design every year? And seeing as how a planned trip this fall was cancelled because of unexpected car repair bills, I'm not going to be going to WDW in 2010. Is there another way to get this mug? I find it's a fun collectible and amaze my co-workers by having the coolest coffee mug in the building.

Any information would be appreciated. Hoping to recoup our hit on the car and take a week down in the Spring. Don't know why I wrote that -- it just kind of came out.

Favorite WDW/DL-original Character

I have been a life-long WDW fan, like most of you out there. Also like many of you, I really enjoy the attractions that WDI creates from the ground up, not relying on any previously existing movies or characters. That got me thinking, what is everybody's favorite character featured in an attraction that was created specifically for that attraction?

Some examples include Figment, the hitchhiking ghosts, the guide for the TTA, Patrick (the flight attendant from Soarin'), the three-headed troll in Maelstrom, Timekeeper and Nine Eye, or XS Tech Chairman Clench (Alien Encounter), just to name a few. There are quite a few choices... all the way down to the most minute characters. I'm interested to see what everybody thinks!

Tweeting and Webcasting from WDW - Starting July 18th, 2010

We're driving to WDW a week from today on Sunday, July 18th and heading onto property on the 19th. We're staying at the Bay Lake Tower the nights of the 19th and 20th. After that we will be in the Beach Club Villas for a week until the 28th.

Much like last year we'll be sharing a little bit of the magic of our trip by tweeting starting on our drive at about 3am on the 19th and throughout the trip. We'll update as often as possible WITHOUT actually taking away from our time there, but hopefully it'll be a nice taste of WDW for those who are not there. Getting that Disney 'fix' each day

You've shared your "I have arrived" moments and those moments that make you cringe while you're at the parks.

I thought it would be fun to share how we get our daily Disney fix while we're far away from the parks.

For example, today I was going through some of my music for board members and came across a track that was recorded live on Main Street. So along with the park music, you could hear people talking, the train going by, etc. So for a few seconds, I was able to close my eyes and picture myself there.

Whether it's wearing a special shirt, listing to music, going through pictures, reminiscing through your past souveniers, what are some of the ways that you catch up on the Happiest Place on Earth when you can't be there?
