Adam...they are a blast!! Call the WDW Play number ( i can look it up if you want it). The Illumniations one, has 2 pick up spots! The Boardwalk and the Yacht & Beach Club Marina. The cost was (and still is, I think) $120, not including any tip you would leave. You can have up to 12 people on the pontoon boat and they motor you around the lake from docking.... to MGM, over to Epcot, watch Illuminations and then head back to drop off.
You learn tons of cool trivia and facts and you cant beat the view of the show. You can take coolers on the boat for snacks and drinks if you wish or order some speciality things in advance when you make the reservations. There are only 4 boats that go out, so CALL early! It is a great family thing to do and we always have a blast!

is it $120 per person or for the entire boat? do i (can i?) book this before we leave for our trip or do i have to do it the day of the show? thanks! (sorry for the stuid quetsions!)
it is $120 per boat. You have to reserve a boat 60-90 days in advance of the date that you want. The reservation desk opens at 7:00:00am eastern time. Only trouble is that the cruises sell out at 7:00:15 for the most part.
The only stupid question here is the unasked question.
Didn't know Illuminations had a cruise. Very cool. Where do they 'sit' to watch the show?
Under the bridge between france and United Kingdom. The cruises depart from the Yacht club docks, take you for a short ride around Crescent Lake before dropping anchor. They use 10-12 passenger pontoon boats.
