  • Amanda's Pre-Trip Report for DISNEYLAND!

    Hi all

After lots of saving and a very exciting night last night, it is official that we are going to Disneyland! I just got back from WDW less than a month ago, so I am stunned and grateful that I will be on vacation AGAIN a month from now!

So here is the (slightly crazy) plan. March 9-18 we will be in CA...the crazy part-we are driving from Indiana! Mapquest predicts it will be about a 32 hour ride, so with food and restroom stops we will be counting on even longer. Even crazier, we are driving straight through. We only have a week to be down there, so we plan on maximizing our vacation time and getting there as soon as possible.

    Here's the cast-
    me (Amanda)-22
    Nate (my boyfriend)- 23
    sister- 20
    & Mom and Dad

And here's the plan thus far:

Friday, March 9- We plan on leaving around 4pm as soon as everyone is home from work. We will drive all through the night.

Saturday, March 10- All day will be spent driving. We should arrive in Morgan Hill, CA sometime late at night. My aunt lives in Morgan Hill (it is near the San Jose area) so we will be paying a quick visit to her.

Sunday, March 11- All of us plus my aunt & cousins will spend the day in San Francisco. We will be going to the Walt Disney Family Museum and whatever else my aunt suggests to do there. Very excited to see the Golden Gate.

Monday, March 12- Majority of the day will be spent with my aunt and her family again. Still deciding what to do that day, but thinking of possibly a visit to the coast? Around early evening we will say our goodbyes to them and drive 5 hours to Burbank where we'll get a hotel for the night.

Tuesday, March 13- Get-up early and do a quick drive-by of the Disney Studios. Wish they were open to the public, but since they are not we at least would like to catch a glimpse of them. From there we will drive over to Hollywood, which is only about 20 minutes away. We will do the Hollywood walk and see the Chinese Theatre, then go to Griffith park. We want to see Walt's barn over there and take a ride on the merry-go-round that he watched his kids ride on as he dreamed up Disneyland (I was so excited to learn it was still in operation!). Next will be the drive to Anaheim, which is about 45 minutes away. We will check into Disneyland hotel and decide what to do from there. If it is early enough to still get in some decent park time, that is what we will do. If not, we'll head to DTD and shop and maybe check out all 3 resorts.

    Wednesday, March 14- Disneyland/DCA
    Thursday, March 15- Disneyland/DCA
    Friday, March 16- Disneyland/DCA

Saturday, March 17- We will wake up and check-out and begin the not-so-fun drive alllllllll the way back to IN.

Sunday, March 18- Arrive back home.

This the first time to CA for all of us and we are thrilled. My family has made it as west as Nevada & Arizona, but Nate has never been further than IL, so it will be a new experience. Looking forward to driving through Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah for the first time. If anyone has any advice for us, please feel free. We are new to everything about Disneyland and would love tips. Would also love to know if anyone knows about crowds & weather at that time of the year.

    30 days & counting !

I bought the tickets for the Disney Family Museum and booked our hotel in Burbank over the weekend. Tomorrow I will pay off the rest of the Disneyland hotel. Park tickets are taken care of, so all of the planning is basically done. Now we wait!

It's the part where nothing if left but waiting that kills me. Have you started an offical countdown yet?

Re: Amanda's Pre-Trip Report for DISNEYLAND!

Can't believe we are only two weeks away! I already have our tickets for the Disney Family Museum, they arrived in the mail a few days ago. They came with a nice hardcover book about Walt and a few separate articles, as well as a pin and a few other items, so it was a fun package to receive. Now just looking for other ways to pass the time!
