Has anybody ever watched the show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel? DH and I watched it last night for the first time and OMG! The places he travels and the things he eats!
It's kinda like a car wreck on the expressway how you just can't look away! We watched the Phillipines episode last night. I think that it's first run is on Monday nights at 9 PM EST. Next week is Morocco.
Here's a link to the schedule. It is some interesting TV.
Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern
Mr. iwbm cooks three months out of the year. I don't need to see it on TV.
They call me "Nana"
I watched it one time. That was pretty much all I could take. He was in Asia like maybe Thailand or near-there-abouts and the stuff he ate just made me wretch. I can't watch it, it sort of reminds of Fear Factor show. I know some people in that part of the world would consider a Twinkie to be horrible food, but watching someone eat slugs or worms just does me in...
“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”
Another reason it pays to be an American. If we felt so inclined, we need look no further than within our own borders for food preparation methods and ingredients that would turn our collective "civilized" stomachs. Far and away, this culture has us very sheltered in that department (one of those cases when "ignorance is bliss" couldn't be more on the level for the vast majority of us).
