Cat in the Hat turns 50!

For the Cat in the Hat's 50th birthday, Seussville.com is celebrating with a cool program. For every e-card that is sent from the site, Random House will give a book to First Books. First Books is a nonprofit that gets new books to low-income families.

It's fun to color the card and see where your state ranks in the number of cards sent.

Our school is celebrating the read across america with Dr Suess. All the kids are dressing in Red, White & Black. Lots of guess readers and events. Lot of fun

Our school is doing the same thing. Every day is something different:

Mon-Green Eggs and Ham day-wear green
Tues-Fox in Socks day- wear silly socks
Wed-Cat in the Hat day-wear a wacky hat
Thurs-The Sneeches (my fav)-they're putting stars on their bellys
Fri-One Fish, Two Fish....-wear red and or blue

DD has been having fun all week figuring out what to wear. She's taking my Sneech to school tomorrow too.

I'll have to check out that site, April.

I read today at my daughters school. One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. and a few others. Our librarian dresses up in the full cat in the hat costume as visits each class. We all dressed in red , white & black.

I was a big fan of The Foot Book as a kid. I turned it into a song. I betcha Dr. Suess didn't know he had a 5 year old using him as her lyricist.

my state is still #4 out of 52!!

It's sad that all the really large states are near the bottom of the rankings!
