I understand that I live in the deep south, where the "sexes" are clearly defined, mostly. But HONESTLY, no supplier EVER calls my DH "darlin, sweetie, sugar, honey, baby, or girlie" they NEVER question him on technical issues, or bolt patterns and they NEVER tell him he is wrong-but I get that junk all of the time. I TRY to patiently understand that it is a southern thing-BUT REALLY, I am a capable, know my material, know my bolt patterns, prove men wrong every day, and STILL get talked down to like a simple child getting their head patted. It is SO irritating to be dismissed, or downgraded to a simple-"sweetie" as if I am an airhead who was hired to sell merchandise based on cleavage and eyelash batting.

All I can say is that I totally feel your pain. I've been there for so long... I've been the receiver of the "darlin, sweetie, sugar, honey" stuff since I chose a career path that was male dominated (technology). Rant worthy!

Brian suggested here for rants-probably a good idea-since it is DARK side.


I resent (somewhat) having my years of careful training disrespected, and being verbally downgraded to a "secretary" as I have been called, or to a bobble head by their use of demeaning terms.

It is the south, but until they call men the same names-ERRR!!!!
