Bedtime routines?
Now that the kids are back in school I was wondering how many have bedtime routines.
Cassidy's bedtime is 8:00-8:30 and about an hour or so before it we have quiet time. Yes, believe it or not, I can be quiet.
She can do whatever she wants but the TV gets turned off and no computer. Most of the time she reads, gets things ready for the next day or plays. Within that time she also gets a snack.
So what are your bedtime routines? (For your kids...Kerry I don't want to know what you do before bed)

My DD is also on an 8:00-8:30 PM bedtime. She takes a shower, lotions down and has 30 minutes of tidy up and read, listen to music or as a special reward 30 minutes of TV, but it must be something educational-no Hannah Montana. SHe is normally asleep by 9:PM and if she is not there is a two day TV penalty.
P.U.S.H.-A mantra MOST will not understand.
Disney rocks, Walt was a genius.

Wow that does bring me back a few years. I never had bedtimes for my kids.
My youngest, from the age of 4 would walk to her room pull on a nightgown, find us and announce she was going to bed. She really monitored herself.
My oldest was always a night owl. We'd tell him time for a shower and needed to go to his room, he'd pop in a tape (no DVD's then) and fall asleep while watching TV. Remember those old VHS tapes that would make that loud screechy at the end...glad they got rid of that problem. My kids from the age of 2 always had TV's in their rooms and for at least l5 years computers in the eldest room. DD always has TV going while she is doing homework and the laptop up and going. They are High Honors students so it worked to let them find their own way.

Megan has to be in bed by 9:00 p.m., no later and she's usually out cold by 9:05. However, she's been quite crabby lately and it could be a mixture of the new school routine or her hayfever which is quite brutal right now. So, she may get dialed back to 8:30 bedtime. Lori, I have to say, I really like that idea of an hour of quiet time w/snack. I might have to borrow that idea. It would really make the transition a lot easier for both of us.
