Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
Well, I'm a veterinarian, and in talking with a client today about her upcoming trip to WDW with her dog I should'a kept quiet. I asked where she was staying - Polynesian. I had just looked at the prices for all the resorts for my upcoming trip and knew the high-end suites are up to $3000. I humorously commented about how much the "really fancy people" spend. Well, she luckily was very polite, and stated that that's what she's paying. She's expecting about $3800 total for a 2-day/1-night Disney visit.
The dog's staying at the TTC kennel for only $40. I would think for $3000 they would let a little 12# dog stay in a Polynesian suite too!
Oh well. With a vacation club I'm in, I did find a beautiful resort just off property for ~$690 for a full week. I think I'll stay there, thank you.

We have another vet as a member. She lives in FL.
That is a funny (but awkward) story. That is a lot of cash for 2 days and 1 night. THanks for sharing.

YEP! I'd rather take the Moderately-Deluxe accommodations so I can afford to eat too!
:wow:
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
Sounds like something I would do.
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
When we go we pay that or a little bit more for the WHOLE week!
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
We have friends that book a huge suite at the GF annually. They own several McDonald's in N. IL. The convention for McDonalds is, or was held at the Contemporary.
I've never taken my dog to WDW. We have a spa of a kennel up here and they all have their own indoor out door runs, cushy bed, piped in music, ice cream (not really ice cream) breaks and a doggy playground with a swimming pool. My dogs have their vacation, we have ours.
Oddly though, the on sight hotels at Universal have Pet wings, your pets get to stay with you. When we stayed at the Portifino (we were on a convention) I was surprised to see the dogs, and then them in their exercise area.
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
For only $40, I may have to look at staying at the kennel.
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
I'll stay with my $82 a night stay at Pop...at least while I'm a broke college student. Maybe a moderate resort when I'm a broke adult trying to pay off his student loans :dizzy:
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
You're lucky her dog didn't bite you!
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
And here I thought this client always acted frugally in our offce - always accepted our recommendations, but always asked for pricing, etc... Must have a stash of cash under the mattress just for Walt.
I've never put that much excitement into paying for fancy lodging - heck, I'm just sleeping. And especially after a Disney-day, I'm usually comatose. Give me a clean bed and I'll be happy!
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
by being frugal at your office is probably how she can afford to spend that at WDW :)
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
I agree with you, for that price the dog should be able to stay with her in the suite and they should throw in some doggie pate in a diamond encrusted bowl!!http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r...kingpoodle.gif
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
Wowza that's a lot for the Poly. It's nice (stayed there many years ago) but not that nice. We've stayed at the GF concierge and I know it wasn't nearly that much but than it wasn't a villa.
I agree, it's just a place to crash after the parks.
She'll have to pay a bit more for the kennel extras but it sounds like it won't make a dent in her wallet. I looked into the kennel once when DS was bringing his dog up from Tampa and meeting me @ WDW. After all the extras I decided he would be happier staying in Tampa. The dog (Einstein) not my son:lol: We had a great time too.
Re: Open Mouth, Insert Foot...
that is such a fun sport.
My SIL asked me if I was supposed to walk around in my Shape Ups or just wear them while sitting? Yup, hope feet tasted good to her.
