Another Transportation Accident

A ten year old boy was hit and killed by a Disney bus while riding his bike on Big Pine Trail in Ft. Wilderness. He was wearing a helmet. The twenty people on the bus were not hurt. No further details at this time.

The traffic accident is still under investigation at this time. Meg Crofton just gave a brief televised message. Florida Hwy patrol are investigating. Boy is actually 9 years old. The boy and his friend were riding bikes on the sidewalk, but the boy may have left the sidewalk, rode into the side of the bus, and was pulled under the bus according to witnesses. This is a priminary finding. The boy is from St. Petersburg, FL. The investigation could take up to 60 days.

The local news just reported that an accident has just happened on World Drive and Buena Vista Drive which involved a bus and a car. No details since it just happened. Update: it was a Disney bus and a Disney van.

I started a thread for the third bus accident in a week, but this link demonstrates some of the problems with the transportation department.

I read the trip report. All I can say is, "Wow". You figure there could be other drivers named Fred, but 81 year old Fred's can't be numerous so one has to be quite certain this was the same person.

Gracious, lots of buses having "issues" maybe they need to give those drivers a break more often.
