Two weeks down – ten to go!
First, thanks for all the well-wishes and injury concerns. I have always been a fairly active person and (thus far) have remained injury-free. I usually run in a few 5ks and one popular local 10k race each summer and then trudge through a sprint triathlon in the fall. As I try to lose some weight before our Disney trip, I am slowly increasing the exercise (thus far focusing on more cycling) and trying to watch what I eat. I recognize that pushing myself to injury will not get me to my goal so I am taking it cautiously.
This past week, I biked 37 miles and ran 6 miles (two 3 mile runs). Unfortunately, we also went away for the weekend and had to eat out for three days – which was much more difficult than the Fourth of July!
I got on the scale this morning and I lost another half a pound – not bad given the weekend, but I was hoping for more. This brings my two week total to 2.9 pounds. Still on track!
I have no trips, parties, or holidays on the calendar for the next month and I am motivated to string together a couple of good weeks. The big 10k is in another month, so I will be cutting back on the bike and slowly ramping up the running.
Off to tackle week three! I see carrots in my immediate future and Beaches and Cream in my distant future.
