    What if Walt Would've Lived Another 20-30 Years...?!

    I've thought of this sooooooo many times over the years, as I'm sure all of y'all have, and it's probably been thrown out there before, but, even if it has, I'm tossin' into the mix again!

    What's y'all's take on this...?!

    I think Epcot would be very different, I think the parks in general would be different. I don't think there would be as many thrill rides because Walt Disney turely believed that families should be able to enjoy the attractions together, that was the whole concept of Disneyland. Not sure what he would of thought of MGM/DHS but I think he would of loved Animal Kingdom, but I also think he would of had more attractions in there. The bottom line is that it would be a better park because it would run from the heart not the pocketbook.
    It's kind of fun to do the impossible!

    I definitely think EPCOT would be different. Horizons would still be there for one. Who know, maybe he would of built a city arounf EPCOT.

    I don't know if we ever would have seen the City of Tomorrow as envisioned due to the problems of establishing and running a local government that essentially did not allow residents to vote on their future. I think we would have continued to see theme parks and entertainment venues that emphasized the "next big thing".

    Wow! This is like a philosophical question about the meaning of the universe. The most wonderful thing about Walt was that he was always "moving forward". Had he lived longer, yes we would have seen an even better Epcot or EPCOT, but I can not even guess the other magical things we would have now. A better Animal Kingdom, a fifth gate that makes us all want to go to the World even more. He would dream it and we would do it!

    Yea, I've thought about those same issues, myself. But, I think, with Walt's amazing abilities of persuasion and marketing (along with Roy's monetary Magic ), and his genuine love for people and experimentation for new and better ways for them to live, he woulda' convinced enough people to at least give it an, albeit idealized, shot.
    Really woulda' liked to have seen how EVERYTHING Disney would be now, if he'd a lived those extra years.

    Who knows? We unfortunately never will, and more's the pity.

    Re: What if Walt Would've Lived Another 20-30 Years...?!

    Walt wanted to create an entirely new and
    an affordable place where families could experience it together;
    enjoy the atmosphere and detail, an afternoon together.

    I wonder if Walt would consider his place an affordable place to spend an afternoon
    with children now.
