    Sustain & Improve

The Better Half and I took a week at WDW in November (Is till haven't gotten around to my trip report) and at the end of the day on the bus back to the resort we would talk about what WDW was doing right and what we'd like to see them do to plus up the parks.

here are a few of the things we came up what are some of yours?

    MK
    Doing it right:
CM interactions - it seems like there are more CMs at the parks these days (true or perception not sure?) and they seems to be doing more direct Guest interactions. More street player son main Street, The Chartacters seem to be out more, and frankly I'm very pleased at the level of cguest services altely, I found he CMs to be very friendly and helpful with any questions, just tlaking about the parks and the like. We've decided thta on out next trip we are printing out the business card sized thank you cards,an idea we saw here on the forums to hand out tot eh exceptional CMs.

    Plus it up:
Tomorrow Lands feels like it could use a little TLC. Also so something with the old skyway station in Fantasy land. beautiful building used to park strollers.

    EPCOT
    Doing it right:
Again CM interations. I think the Powers rthat be have been pushing guest services standards. They seem to have improved in the last year or so.

    Plus it up:
Journey into imagination, CPT Eo and the wonders of life pavilsion, please update the former and do something with the later. it seems like a huge waste for it to just sit there excpet for the occasional special event

    DHS
    Doing it right:
A lot more character interactions. it seems the characters were out more at DHS, again maybe just perceptiion but we noticed it more it seems.
Love hat they are updating Star tours

    Plus it up:
Time to make a decison for the backlot tour end or revamp it.

    DAK
    Doing it right:
Emphasizing the animals. and increased character interactions. DAK seems to be defining itself as more thna just a place to spend a few hours.

    Plus it up:
    Fix the Yeti
refurb the hammer swing game at Chester & Hester's I loved that thing!

Veri!!! Good to see you pal.
We too had great CM interactions in October. Being serenaded by the Dapper Dans.... loved it. It's the little magical things that really make people happy and I think Disney understands that.

Caro and I have been talking about the new menu additions! She is looking forward to sampling the new gourmet burgers for us when she goes down in a couple of weeks.

Other than the snow and freezing temps, it's fabulous here!
I am majorly envious that she is going without me. We haven't gone without each other in I can't remember when!

I have a 5 day park hopper burning a hole in my pocket.....

He did work on our trip. I could still see him through my mostly closed eyelids.

The wedding was fantastic, it's too bad you couldn't join us!
Yes, there was much merrymaking and luckily none of us got thrown in Disney jail.
They were able to put us basically all together at POR. I think most other guests were afraid. Very, very afraid.

You know.... I don't remember seeing any other guests in our building. Just these suspicious looking covered carts parked in various locations in the hallway....
And it didn't seem odd until now, but the way they seated us at our meals at these giant long tables in the center of the room, likely directly under the watchful eyes....

    Re: Sustain & Improve

They will begin doing well again in my book in the WDW sphere when they make the conscious decision to do-away with the constant deluge of souvenir shops and food outlets. Disney can make as much money via intelligent merchandising rather than crass commercialisation that is all too evident in the post-Eisner parks.

It falls to strong-heads with considerable leadership to take it back in hand.

Return Main Street to its former, individual glory, instead of simply knocking down all the interior walls and filling the enlarged shop with the same plastic tat that is sold at every other location in the park. Put the Main Street Cinema back into service. End the homogenisation of food provision; you can order the same meal in every land. Why?

Make a return to specialised, targeted merchandise. If you want to sell NBC, go for it, but take it clear of the Haunted Mansion. Disney is sitting on a nostalgia and fandom goldmine but they take the easier route of simply focusing on the Pirates and Princess. Just think of how much money could be made from targeted merchandise specific to attractions, instead of the same pins, sunglasses and plushes.

There is much that the Mouse can learn from its Orlando neighbour in this department.

I am not looking forward to the credit card bill that will come in next month! But anyway, it's Megaline weekend, she's turning the big 3-0 and we have to celebrate!! (got carried away with the smileys).

But yes, I definitely want to try at least the one of the new designer burgers at Cosmic Rays, I love my Picklesville but we'll have two days at MK so we'll have time to do a bit of sampling for y'all.

I just saw your email yesterday Veri, someone needs to update their address book!

I can't tell you if he was working or not! Even if he's not moving, he is moving in my head! Nothing scares me more than Dinosaur though. I dare you to find a ride photo of me not covering up my eyes.

You mentioned Captain EO, are you saying keep it or get rid of it? I loved seeing it for the first time last October, it was so fun to take a trip back to the 80s! I prefer EO over HISTA, that is for sure. If they put EO back in the vault, hope they come up with something else to show in there.
