Chicago land

For the chicagoland friends out there, taking the kiddos, wife and MIL to chicago for spring break. We live a couple hours away, so we visit fairly often. Looking for some ideas I might not be thinking about for this visit. We do the museums once a year, the aquarium, the michigan ave shopping, etc. Any things in the city, or outside the city that we should think about? Kids are 11, 10 and 5 and we have a car and can drive. We hit Schaumburg last trip and IKEA with some great friends. Things in consideration right now are Medieval Times, Blue Man Group as a night out. We might run out to superdawg for a bite to eat. We usually hit Navy Peir on our way home Sunday. We will be there 4 nights.

We live a couple hours away too, and visit a few times too.
Blue Man Group was pretty fun! (don't sit in the front though unless you want to get wet) Never done Medieval Times, though.

Don't forget about Brookfield Zoo! Or even Lincoln Park zoo, for that matter!
Check the calendar for your dates so you can see what is going on...
Maybe you can take in a sporting event?

Have a great time! Never done Medieval Times but I have heard nothing but positive reviews!

The Museums will be crowded during spring break, so if you are planning on visiting any, it would be a great idea to purchase your tickets online, that way you dont have to spend time waiting in line to purchase your tickets, you just go right in.

Cant think of anything I have heard of different or exciting going on during spring break around the Chicagoland area. If i hear anything I will let you know.

I have to go to Chicago end of March myself! Kiddo has an appt with University of Chicago....last time we were in the city we had fun in the Tribune building reading the quotes on the walls/ceilings.

Since spring breaks vary, when are you guys going to Chicago?

I've done Medieval Times. It is fun and engaging, good for kids of all ages. Look for tickets in advance there are many deals.

Chicago Cubs are in town on the 6th of April. Have you done either the Sears Tower or Hancock? The tower has the new ledge. Now if it is warmer that week there are several Segway Tours of the various areas of downtown, but there is a weight requirement. Millenium Park and the Bean fills some time. I love the Science of Industry the most, I can spend a day in there.

Have done Hancock but not Sears/Willis with the kids. Not sure the kids could do segway, that is 16 or 18 yo minimum usually right? My 10 yo really wants to do that however. If its warm, we will walk to millennium for sure!

Got free tickets for that a couple years ago from the DVC store at woodfield. If I had paid I would have been very upset! It was only a month or so old when we went, so hopefully it has gotten better.

the Botanical Gardens in Northbrook off the Edens Highway.North of the city.

Volo auto museum, but that is way north up by Mchenry(Rt 120). They have all the movie cars.

Gurnee Mills - Huge indoor outlet mall. Right there is 6 flags and a indoor water park called Key Lime Cove all in Gurnee . North on 294 about 5 miles from Wisconsin border.

It's a shame Disney Quest went out.
