So this was just released on September 13th.

I'm a tad surprised. It is a theme that I thought was left behind in my childhood. Never thought of introducing my daughter to the ways of my generation, though we called it Finishing Classes.

Barbie: Princess Charm School is a direct-to-DVD, 2011-computer-animated film, directed by Zeke Norton, which was released on September 13, 2011 in the US and on August 28 in the UK.
Plot

Blair Willows, played by Barbie, is an ordinary girl who works in Cafe Gardania. She is chosen to attend Princess Charm School by a lottery given to one commoner each semester: a full school scholarship for training to be a lady royal (a princess' advisor).
In the school, she makes friends with Hadley and Isla. Each student has a personal sprite. Blair's personal sprite is Grace. Dame Devin, one of the teachers, wants her own daughter, Delancy, to be the princess of Gardania. After her sister-in-law, Queen Isabella, and the royal family died in a car accident, Dame Devin stays in the palace. However, Hadley and Isla know the legend that not every member of Queen Isabella's family die.
Delancy also dislikes Blair, but Hadley and Isla support Blair.
Blair and her friends must get the enchanted crown to prove that Blair is the real princess. Along the way Delancy says she wants to do what's right so she helps Blair get the crown. At Delancy's coronation, she tries to postponed the crowning while Blair, Hadley and Isla get the crown. After everyone knows the truth Dame Devin admits that she planned Princess Isabella's death so Delancy could have the throne. She is then taken away by the guards. Blair becomes the queen of Gardenia and she chooses Delancy as the Lady of Gardenia.
