Our lease runs out at the end of January, and we want to move into a house, instead of living in an tiny apartment. We'd be paying $400 more a month than we are now, but it will be worth it. We can have family and friends come stay with us, without it being like sardines in a tin can. Plus we can entertain, which is something we can't do atm.

I recall you mentioning wanting to move-vile neighbor issues and a smallish apartment. Good luck with finding a place and maybe getting it a little cheaper. And a solid, full time job for you.

I like ham with grits, and buttered toast on the side. but, bacon is faster and easier and Dd and DH love bacon.

I do put shredded mild cheddar on mine, DD likes sea salt and pepper on hers and DH likes a few grits with his butter and sea salt.


I just cook 4 serving size pot and let everyone customized on their plates.

Thanks The neigbours have been really good lately. Haven't heard a peep out of them in months. We're looking at 3 bedroom houses, in the same area, and up to a 15 min drive, further. I'm really hoping after the wedding, that I will start getting more work. Even part time, would be a Godsend

Ground hominy corn, that we cook creamy (like cream of wheat or malt-o-meal) and eat with butter, or cheese, or sugar, or maple syrup, or shrimp.

basically a southern staple that if filling and cheap, but super tasty. It is loaded with cheese at fish fries.

i make panckaes some Sundays and grits other Sundays.


Gabe hates them, I love them. It is a southern thing.

In my head, I had imagined grits to be like a waffle...Boy, was I wrong!

Sister in law uses them all the time at work. In her office she freezes. She learned to knit her own.

Good Sunday, got up at 8:30 a.m. did my stretches then weeded the vegetable garden from 9a.m. to 12 noon. Now ready to go to the grad party for my BFF son!

Loads of photos or both white corn grits and yellow corn grits, with shrimp, shrimp and sausage. Started in New Orleans, but we all have a version of it. I also make a grits casserole, sort of. It is a way to use up leftover grits.

They are very versatile, like an East Coast polenta.

Please, send it here. We are nearly dry as the bones and no rain in sight. Thursday they said, Monday rain for sure, last night they kicked it back to Wednesday, possibly Thursday, Maybe.

It is dangerously dry here. The earth is cracking. We will have had multiple weeks in the 90's with little to no rain on those days. We hit a record for us with low 100's.

While we were coming home from Wisconsin today a straight wind came through at 75 mph. This we have received multiple times in the last few weeks. Tree limbs down, one area of town, no power. We just missed the actual storm because I got caught up in a detour in Wisconsin. Sky was black and got off Tollway early as a precaution. Everything but the trees look OK. Amen.
