So now I have to get in touch with the other place whose internship I already accepted and tell them I'm no longer interested...I feel a bad about it but know the other option is better for me and I'm sure they have other interested applicants who will happily fill my spot.

    Somewhere I missed this.

That is awesome and I am very happy for you. The other place KNOWS they low offered. So happy you got a better deal.

True, BUT at least Penn had a seat at the table with the NCAA, and the Big Ten to negotiate this, it wasn't a blind side, it was fairly negotiated for what was good all the way around.

(i will reserve my feelings here because football players deserve to play and scholarships get funded thru football)

It was 45 degrees and so cold that it was actually really, really painful to even move my joints. Super creepy and really just plain miserable- no idea why anyone does that. Very happy it is checked of the list and will not be something that I plan on doing again. Yuck.

YAY!!! But imagine the clear, blue warm water of the carribean or pacific and how much FUN that would be to deep dive in-fish, coral, rays, sharks, wrecks. Coolness.

My sister and I are big fans of the Sherman brothers. We were in Disney nerd heaven last year when we got to see Richard Sherman perform at Destination D, and I have had the idea of trying to secure an autograph from him for awhile. My sister's birthday is in July, so at the end of June I had the idea to try to get an autograph from Richard Sherman as part of her birthday present. The sheet music on the left of the photo is an original copy of the Feed the Birds song music. My sister gave it to me for my birthday a few years back, and I totally loved it. Well, I knew that she really loved it also and wished that she had her own copy, so I decided to ask Mr. Sherman to sign my copy for her and return it back to her as part of her own birthday present this year. I found a copy of actual sheet music for Feed the Birds and bought it and then had that copy signed for myself. I knew I really wanted the autographs on music for that song because of the ties that it has to Walt, and I am so happy to have these new treasures.

I was totally shocked when I saw that he had sent them back to me in the mail- I was beyond excited. Thank you Mr. Sherman!!!!!! Amber and I REALLY appreciate it!

Way, way beyond freaking cool. She will be excited, won't she?

Sure hope the current football kids can find competitive schools to go to that can possibly go to a bowl or post season. And scholarship matches. They are the only ones I have empathy for. How about the idiot board member saying Friday no decision has been made about the statue and he didn't know where the media was arriving at it coming down over the weekend. And then down it went....like that kind of stupid talk helps. Oy.

Just wish there were more scholarships available for non-athletes. Priorities.

Down here they can get an academic instead of a football, better for both and less pressure.
Not may schools have scholarship spots open at this point-the season starts Aug 31. BUT, if they push thru and play well (not win), they will get a lot of offers for next year.

the overall number of scholarships, chairs and other good the football money does outweighs some of the negatives down here anyway.

But yes, the players are the only ones hurt in this. But, the NCAA had to do something and send a strong message about mollycoddling anyone.
