We stopped doing gifts for the adults. We do gifts for the kids only. We give the parents massage certificates cause they love massages.

So, spa day or treatment certificates work well for grown ups, and gift cards for kids do well.

We only have a mini budget for each other - nothing much!

Ann & I always spoil each other though!

Shame I never got to see or ride Horizons: It sounds a pretty cool ride!

Also, I wonder if they'll ever do anything on a more permament basis with the Wonders of Life Pavilion?

heard from our friend who was our best man at our wedding - he and girlfriend are fine - they were inland so mostly power outage and trees down - but sad over new jersey and new york.

Yep, they live in Connecticut and are pretty well inland.
So weird though, in the summer of '81 when he was here goin' to college at UT, him and some of his buddies from the east coast had a house on the Jersey Shore for two weeks in Seaside Heights and I was down there for the last week. Had NO clue ('cause I've never watched) that the "reality" TV show Jersey Shore was shot there. Although a bunch of it is foggy due to overindulgence in adult beverages , I do remember walking the boardwalk, gettin' pizza slices from the stands, etc. Can't believe how much that place has been destroyed.

I am stunned, just stunned, that Alabama electrical workers were turned away in New Jersey because they are not union. HUH?? Seems like the help would be appreciated, not sent away.

One of those, Trinity, Ala.-based Joe Wheeler, was never in New Jersey and is unionized, its CEO, George Kitchens, said this morning.Eight Wheeler workers were instead dispatched to Maryland before the storm hit and have completed their work there, company spokeswoman Mandi Phillips said.
"We are headed back home," she said. "We were never turned away."
Bill Yell, communications manager for Huntsville Utilities, said he was not aware a union issue had prevented three of that company’s crews from working in New Jersey.
Huntsville originally sent two three-man bucket crews and one three-man pole-setting crew to Seaside Heights, but that all nine had since been dispatched to Long Island, Yell said.
"The reason we're not working with the New Jersey system is that they had all the crews they could handle," he said.
The fact that those crews are not unionized did not have any effect, he said.
"They didn't have any problems with us," he said.

I miss Horizons. Glad my two kids were able to experience it before it was extinct.

Likewise for the pretty cherry trees in the hub of the Magic Kingdom.

With all the expansions going on at Universal, I'd be surprised if Disney left Future World in the state it currently is. It is an embarrassment. I wish they would not piecemeal it though. My hope would to fix Energy, WoL and Imagination at the same time and get FW grounds cleaned up post haste
