Re: The RT Thread Part V
Here either in most cases. Drinking on public property is not allowed nor on public transportation. Like you guys, there are exceptions. My DS actually got nailed for taking the garbage out to the alley last spring with a beer in his hand. Police were stalking the alley that night. $575.00 fine. It was a College town so they could get away with ticky-tacky fines. Our Metra Trains are a exempt from some of these liquor laws. The trains were privately owned. They mostly ran from counties far out from Chicago and went into two different train stations in downtown Chicago. Two stations because they were owned by two different companies. Business people rode these trains into the city daily. It was normal for them to purchase a drink in the station and then board the train. One line that goes through the wealthy area North Shore, actually had cocktail car. Morning coffee. This train runs all the way up across the boarder of Wisconsin. Commutes were long, so liquor was allowed. It has changed now that it is only allowed on business days, normally Monday through Friday. When the trains were then operated by the Metra a governing body, they tried to ban liquor but it was met with too much resistance.
