I didn't pay dramatically more than that for my kids first car.

I'm so glad I do not follow the latest fashion trends, otherwise I would be broke, and poorly dressed.

Too cute. I decorated the front of the property today. Looks real cute. Now if the critters don't chew through the wires this year I'll be appreciative.

Hmmm...I've had a few pieces over the years that were above my comfort level. My wedding gown, though my Mom paid for. I thinking maybe my riding boots which were around $600 but they last forever and a day.

My Mom bought my DD 4 pairs of jeans to go back to college. Average cost was $145.00 each. DD and I both were nauseous. Even with price adjustments for the years my Mom never bought me jeans in that range. I've always been a Levi's gal.

Dude, take it from a guy who's worked in mens clothing. DO NOT spend $200 on a rented tux for your wedding, if at all possible (unless, of course, your bride-to-be insists on it). Almost nobody wears a rented tux at their wedding anymore (yes I did...back in '88).
We sold suits that were decent but not the best for WAY more weddings than tuxes. But, suits that could be put in the closet and pulled out at any time for whatever occasion to be used again and again. Suits are more versatile (especially with a vest). We, many times, sold them for as little as $150 with a shirt and tie thrown in, especially depending on the number of guys in the wedding party. And no, I know what the profit margin was and we had plenty of referred and repeat business...he was just not tryin' to rip people off but make a decently livable profit.
I actually still cover closing shifts for him some nights to make a little beer money...!
Find a place like that, if you can, and get yourself a decent suit!

I wonder if that varies by areas. My DS has been in two very upscale weddings here. They all rented their tuxes.
And yep, my DS has the black 3 piece suit and the gray 3 piece suit. Good investments.

    Re: Thoughts of Randomness VI

DH and his Groomsmen rented their suits from a Bridal/Formal wear store. Same place I bought my dress, and where my bridesmaids bought their dresses from.

For a wedding 6 months prior to ours, we bought a suit for DH. Because of the style I wanted, and the fact I wanted all matching for the bridal party, it was easier for the men to hire the same style. Plus, I ordered custom made ties for the groomsmen, that were made out of the same material as the bridesmaid's dresses (So, they would match).
