he probably was on of the ones I gave big kiss to back in 1991 when we finally got our power back on after being out for over two weeks after a really horrific ice storm
we had people helping us out from up and down the east coast
i was kinda neat seeing all the different trucks from all the different states
i think most of us have seen the after effects of losing power
and we appreciate all the people like your Dad
I think its great how states help out each other. Last year Florida got a lot of help from Alabama and Georgia.

I also appreciate my dad a lot....he's my personal ATM when money funds are running low and being daddy's little girl he gives in easily!

I will continue to pray for everyone as it heads to the panhandle! Hope everyone will be safe there. Does explain why we have so many jets here right now!(our base is their secondary base-or whatever they do call it)

Katrina is a monster storm with winds over 175 mphs! The last hurricane of a category five to hit the US was hurricane Andrew back in 1992. I remember Andrew all too well as I had the pleasure of living through it. Here is something from a news article:

"Only three Category 5 hurricanes — the highest on the Saffir-Simpson scale — have hit the United States since record-keeping began. The last was 1992's Hurricane Andrew, which leveled parts of South Florida, killed 43 people and caused $31 billion in damage. The other two were the 1935 Labor Day hurricane that hit the Florida Keys and killed 600 people and Hurricane Camille, which devastated the Mississippi coast in 1969, killing 256."

Good luck everyone from Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana!!!

I am certainly hoping it downgrades before coming ashore tomorrow! Very scary. Hope everyone is safe!

    Stay safe, everyone!

Ft. Myers (where I live) was spared from Katrina as it passed further south than anticipated. After seeing what sort of damage a hurricane does, it's best to get out of town or if you can't, head to the nearest shelter. You don't want to be riding out this one.

I am going on a trip and I am nervous about not being near my family. I live in upstate SC and will be traveling near Columbia, SC. I know the hurricane is not directly heading that way, but I remember last year during Ivan we had tornadoes and I was not with my family all day.

Hillo, my DD(9years old), Mom and Dad are in Myrtle Beach right now. I have been trying to find out if this storm will be hitting there. Do you know what the impact will be? We don't get too many hurricanes here in Ontario. Tornadoes occasionally, but we have never been through one of those either. I am a little anxious over this.

Hope everyone affected by the hurricane stays safe. I will be thinking about all of you.
