My husband was wondering if there would be enough fuel. What if they cancel because of that?
We won't have time to drive-we can only take 4 day off and that is what it would take to go there and back.

Let me know what you find out Kellie
I booked thru AAA too
tks
Airfare ticket prices went way up between yesterday and today.
I have to travel to Dallas for work in October. I priced a flight yesterday from Newark for $240. Today the same flight was $490.
Once you've purchased a ticket, however, it's yours and I don't think the airline can change the price. They could cancel the whole flight though.
I really really glad that we already have our tickets for our WDW trip.

As someone who works for a fueling company at the RDU airport, I can tell you that the gas problem isn't going to be as big an issue as the media is letting on. Currently the refineries that produce Jet A (the fuel used in all jet aircraft) are still producing fuel. The problem is distribution. As we all have heard, Colonial Pipeline and Plantation Pipeline are currently running at about 50% and they hope to be near full capacity by the end of next week. While that is less than optimal, it is certainly not as bad as CNN, et al are letting on. We currently have a 3 week supply on hand at RDU. This is our normal supply, not a reaction to Katrina. Some airports are in worse shape than RDU, ATL and CLT being 2 that I can think of. They might have to cancel some flights into those airports but more than likely the airlines will just "tanker" in fuel for the outbound flight (that is carrying enough fuel for both the inbound and outbound flight.) One airport that is a wildcard is Philadelphia, they get all their Jet A by barge for some reason. I am not sure where the barges come from.
Jet A supplies should be back to normal well before December.
As for your already purchased tickets, you are fine. The airlines cannot raise prices once the ticket is purchased. Also, if the airline does have to cancel your flight, you will be notified in advance of your options for other flights.
I guess my point is this, don't panic. The only flights that we have seen cancelled are the flight into New Orleans, Biloxi, and Gulf Port. And I think we can all understand why those are not operating.

Crude Oil Prices 1947-2004

Click on graph for larger view*World Price - The only very long term price series that exists is the U.S. average wellhead or first purchase price of crude. When discussing long-term price behavior this presents a problem since the U.S. imposed price controls on domestic production from late 1973 to January 1981. In order to present a consistent series and also reflect the difference between international prices and U.S. price we created a world oil price series that was consistent with the U.S. wellhead price adjusting the wellhead price by adding the difference between the refiners acquisition price of imported crude and the refiners average acquisition price of domestic crude.
