    Darren McGavin Passed On, Too.

Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, Richard Pryor, Don Knotts, and now Darren McGavin. This has really not been a good couple of months since Thanksgiving......

(If you were drawin' a blank, Darren McGavin was Ralphie's old man in A Christmas Story; "one of the most fearsome furnace fighters in the midwest.")

Darrin McGavin also played Carl Kolchak in the sci fi series "The Night Stalker" .

Add Dennis Weaver to your list, who passed on the 24th of this February. He played Sam McCloud in the series "McCloud"

Both actors did a stint on the "Disneyland" series.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said, too. Only I didn't say "fudge."

Darren McGavin sort of made that movie for me. To this day, my favorite moment in the entire flick is the quick bit we see of him dancing and singing along with the Wizard of Oz characters while on his way to collect Ralphie and Randy from Santa's Mountain of Doom; bidding them farewell with "I'll see you folks in Oz."

Kinda lost for words on it--it just seemed a real human moment.
