Well if it's any consolation, this former "Adventurous Eater" didn't start branching out until I met my DH. Of course, that didn't happen until I was 20 years old....but it did happen!

Thanks, so what you are telling me is I have 17 more years of this? I may have to hold him down and force feed him between now and then. Wait, I tried that (not really) last night and he gagged on chicken. CHICKEN! Who doesn't like chicken?!?!

I'm almost embarrased to say this but there is still one stage 3 baby food that he REALLY likes so I give him that when all else fails. It's the blueberry buckle. The kid loves blueberry.

I wouldn't eat chicken either. I love it now, but it grossed me out back then...bones and skins and nerves and veins...gag! I only buy boneless/skinless chicken to cook now. Once in blue moon my DH will come home with chicken, and sometimes I'll pick the meat out and eat it. It's not a common occurence though. I don't do wings at all.

I am an admitted picky eater. My mom would fix a meal, if I ate, I ate, if I didn't, I would sit there for a couple of hours staring until I was told I could get up. If I refused to eat what she fixed, I just didn't eat. Then I learned how to cook for myself...

The same was true for us.

You either ate what was fixed or you did'nt eat. I will say that now with 2 kids I pretty much do the same, although I try not to fix brussell sprouts and cauliflower too often!!

Yeah, that's how my mom did it too! She gave up trying to reason with me, but decided she wasn't going to make me a different meal from everyone else every night. That's nuts! Although on Holidays, she would make something she know I would eat.

I think I was around 9 when I started to learn how to use the stove to cook/bake things while my mom supervised me.

Our rule is--if you dont' like it, fix yourself some cereal or a peanut butter sandwich but you cant' gripe about it.

I like that rule, and when my son gets a little bit older that rule will be back in force at my house. This is not the BK and you can't have it your way!
