Okay....I am finally getting around to this. Another member suggested this thread and asked if I would start it for her. I am doing it under the condition that everyone get's to know and welcomes Stacy (uratoon)!!!!!! :wave:
I don't know about your family, but it seems like we end up having the same things over and over and over and over, so maybe if people share ideas and even some recipes (if they are so inclined) it could be fun!!!! So....what's for dinner at your house tonight??????

I'm not cooking!!! It is my night to teach at the university and I refuse to cook those nights. The kids can live through dad's cooking two nights a week.
hello Stacy - we've introduced ourselves before, so hello i'm Debbie and I am fixing chili tonight...
Recipe - hmmm... let's see if i can remember what i do
I brown the ground turkey, after that's done, i add about 4 cups of water, dash of salt, and a lot of extra virgin olive oil.. then i put 2 cans of light red kidney beans let them cook up, then i add a can of diced tomatoes, 1 jar of mild salsa, chili powder. And i think that's it.... You can add other things to inhance the bite of it, but since the kids love it, can't make it too spicy..
So that's what i'm having for dinner tonight!!

Fried Chicken
Collard Greens (hey, i'm from Arkansas, what do you expect)
Black eyed peas
Steamed cauliflower
Biscuits
and for dessert............Blackberry Cobbler!! (with a little vanilla ice cream)

Last night Mr. iwannabeminnie made hamburgers and scalloped potatoes. (Okay, I made the scalloped pototes over the weekend, he just warmed them up in the microwave.) He went all out and opened a can of mandarin oranges for dessert.

I already ate my big meal for the day---a dish called Hoppin' John (DO NOT ask me why its called that) my version pretty easy to make tho I dont usually measure anything just throw it in the pot
cut up some onions 1 real big one usually does it-i like them a little chunky
saute them along with a bit of celery cut up --2 stalks or so
add some cut up ham --about 2 cups
2 cans of black eyes peas (drain them but not all the way)
a dash of worsteshire or however you spell it sauce
salt and pepper to taste
serve over rice
You could just throw all of that in a crock pot and let tit do its thing too..care free cooking

home with a sick baby today, although i think she could have gone to daycare, just has a little cough and and a little runny nose... so we were home today and played all day... of course read the same book probably 10 times, and now she wants to play disney toddler game on th computer, oh and disney channel has been on all day, thank GOD she doesn't watch it the entire time.... Watched Pocahontas today, so good, i'll watch it again.. oh sorry, this is what's for dinner thread sorry 'bout that.:wow:
