Not for me! Teachers go back on the 14th and kiddos on the 17th!
For me, school starts on Sept.5th and I come home from my Disney trip on the 3rd of September. What fun! Two days after I come home, I have to go to school :(
I go back on the 14th of this month
Geez.....Parker doesn't go back for almost another month! His first day is September 5th, but you guys probably get out a lot earlier than we do too!

Apparently, last year our school exceeded the minimum number of school days allowed by the state so starting later in the year really isn't going to effect us much.
here school ends like at middle or end of may and we start like early aug.Quote:

Personally, I think they should start the kids later here in GA. It is way too hot for them to ride buses with no AC and sit in trailers with poor AC and go out to play in the HOT HOT HEAT!
The reason they start beginning of Aug. is because of the school bd. here in Cherokee Co., dosen't like having the teachers waste so much time (8- 10 weeks) getting the kids back up to speed, to where they should be, so they can start getting them ready for state and national testing. My daughter, who is in 6th grade this year, told me that on the first day of school, the teachers were already talking about the national writing test and the GCRCT test (which is given in the spring). Remember "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND".
I really, really, really, dislike "no child left behind". Teachers can't teach kids how to think, they must teach to the test.Quote:
