Thumbs up Holiday Songs (that I LOVE)

That's right, with so much interest in my Holiday Songs (that I loathe) thread I decided it was time for another great new thread...

What Christmas/Holiday songs do you LOVE?

Here are some of my favorites:

Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" (a classic )

Perry Como's "Home for the Holidays" (I've loved this song from the first time I heard it. "Put the wife and kiddies in the family car..." )

"Silver Bells" (I love to dream about Christmas while listening to this song )

"Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" (one of my all time faves)

"It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas" (this one always gets me in the mood for Christmas )
    ~Bobby Jack

When you hear the knell of a requiem bell weird glows gleam where spirits dwell
Restless bones etherealize rise as spooks of every size
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize!

    same here!!
Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney

Oh, there are a lot I love!

    "O Holy Night"
    "The Coventry Carol"
    "Carol of the Bells"
    "Frosty the Snowman"
    "Gabriel's Message"
    "We Three Kings"
    "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman"
    "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (Dino's)
"Stille, Stille, Stille" (we always sung this in German, so I don't quite know the English translation...but I loved performing it.)
"Do You Hear What I Hear?" (One of the very few songs, my voice part got the harmony. And I do not understand why Whitney Houston's version skips the entire first verse.)

The entire Nat King Cole CD, which is called The Christmas Song. Everyone who likes Christmas music should have this one in their collection!

Another favorite CD of mine, the Vince Guaraldi Trio, A Charlie Brown Christmas. I really do like the arrangement of "O Tannenbaum" they do.

I was wondering when this thread was going to start!

    - Trans-Siberian Orchestra's - "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" This song just gives me the chills
    - Anything sung by Nat King Cole
    - Bing's "White Christmas" and "Little Drummer Boy" w/Bowie

And I really love Clay Aiken's "Mary, Did You Know"..his whole Christmas cd is actually really good.

Thanks for reminding me of a few more of my faves Amanda!

    I too love:
"Carol of the Bells" (I loved playing this when I was in handbells - yes I am a dork )
"Frosty the Snowman" (such a fun song)
"We Three Kings" (especially when sung by a choir)
Do You Hear What I Hear?" (very soothing)

And I should be shunned for not owning Nat's Christmas CD

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nat King Cole is REQUIRED listening for Christmas!!!

Here you can go shopping right now:
    Nat King Cole

Although the version I have doesn't have his daughter on it. It really is a great Christmas CD. Seriously if you enjoy his, dare I say definitive, version of "The Christmas Song", you will truly enjoy the rest of the songs he performs.

There is a song that is just the orchesta horns playing the nutcracker theme. It reminds me of the Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas DVD where Mickey is the nutcracker trying to save Minnie from the Evil Donald. I love that song.
