    Actor Ray Sharkey, the voice of Grand Vizier in Disney's 1984 TV movie Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp, is born in Brooklyn, New York.

    1961:
    Walt Disney becomes a grandfather again with the birth of Diane & Ron Miller's fifth child, in Monterey County, California. The baby boy is named Walter Elias Disney Miller.

    1964:
    Actor Patrick Warburton, the voice of Alien Cop in the 2005 animated feature Chicken Little, is born in Paterson, New Jersey. His other Disney credits include Sky High and Kim Possible: The Secret Files. (TV fans will recognize him as David Puddy on the hit series Seinfeld.)

    2004:
    Today is opening day for Opportunity City located in INNOVENTIONS at Epcot.

    2005:
    Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade steps off at Disney's Animal Kingdom for the first time this season.

    1965:
    Walt and Roy Disney, accompanied by Governor Haydon Burns, speak to the press at the Cherry Plaza Hotel in Orlando and officially launch the Walt Disney World project in Florida. (Site preparation will begin in the fall of 1967 and the park will open in October 1971, unfortunately five years after Walt's death.) Only days after this announcement, the price of land surrounding the property that the Disney organization purchased will shoot up to an amazing $80,000 per acre.

    2004:
    It is reported that the Walt Disney Company has bought the assets of CrossGen Entertainment, a comic book publisher.

    1922:
    Actor Royal Dano, the voice of Abraham Lincoln for Disney's Hall of Presidents and Greatest Moments with Mister Lincoln attractions, is born in New York City.

    2004:
    A Wrinkle in Time, Disney's made-for-TV adaptation of the popular book by Madeleine L'Engle (which aired Spring 2004) is released on DVD. Also released on DVD is the Wonderful World of Disney television movie Elose at Christmastime starring Julie Andrews and Sofia Vassilieva.

    Stitch the Escape is officially opened at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom with a short ceremony held in front of Cinderella's Castle.

    It is announced that Mickey Mouse will be the Grand Marshal for the 2005 Tournament of Roses Parade (to be held January 1, 2005 in Pasadena, California).

    1907:
    Animator Les Clark, one of Walt's "Nine Old Men," (who worked on such Disney classics as Steamboat Willie, Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp, and Melody Time) is born in Ogden, Utah.

    1951:
    Actor Stephen Root, the voice of Bubbles in Disney's 2003 Finding Nemo, is born in Sarasota, Florida. His Disney credits also include the voice of Zeb in the 2002 The Country Bears. (Fans of the TV series NewsRadio will recognize Root for
    his role of Jimmy James.)

    2004:
    Disney launches an all-new Muppets Web site. The site, which debuts on this day, features games, biographies of the Muppet characters, screensavers and news about current projects, including the new film The Muppets Wonderful Wizard of Oz, slated to air on ABC-TV next May. (The Walt Disney Company purchased the Muppets in April 2004.)

    1928:
    Mickey Mouse stars in Steamboat Willie, the first commercially successful animated cartoon to use synchronized sound. The Disney film debuts as a sneak preview at the Colony Theatre (located at Broadway & 53rd Street) in New York City. The cartoon is co-directed by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks and features the first appearance of Minnie Mouse. (Despite the fact that this is not the first Mickey cartoon made or released, it is still considered Mickey Mouse's true debut.)

    2001:
    The Wonderful World of Disney airs "The Facts of Life Reunion," a gathering of the stars from the 1979-1988 sitcom.

    Actress Eleanor Audley, the voice of Maleficent in Disney's 1959 Sleeping Beauty and Lady Tremaine in the 1950 Cinderella, is born in New York City. She was also the original voice of Madame Leota for The Haunted Mansion attraction in Disneyland.

    1919:
    Actor Alan Young is born in England. He is the voice of Scrooge McDuck for the film Mickey's Twice Upon A Christmas and The House of Mouse television series. He also appeared in the 1978 live-action feature The Cat From Outer Space.
    (TV fans may recognize him as Wilbur Post in the classic series Mr. Ed.)

    1960:
    Actress Allison Janney, the voice of Peach in Disney's 2003 Finding Nemo, is born in Dayton, Ohio.

    1962:
    Actress Jodie Foster is born in Los Angeles, California. Her Disney credits include the 1976 Freaky Friday and the 1972 Napoleon and Samantha.

    Actor Jason Scott Lee, the voice of David Kawena in Disney's 2002 Lilo & Stitch, is born in Oahu, Hawaii.

    Actress Ming-Na, the voice of Mulan in both Mulan and Mulan II, is born in Coloane Island, Macau, China.

    2004:
    ASIFA Hollywood (a worldwide organization dedicated to the art of animation) saves several walls in a home once owned by the late Disney Legend D ick Huemer. Huemer's son Richard alerted ASIFA who was able to negotiate with the demolition company to save two bedroom walls which feature original artwork by Huemer of classic Disney characters.

    Disney releases Lizzie McGuire Box Set Volume 1 on DVD. It contains the first 22 episodes form the Disney Channel series.

    Disney's newest musical production On The Record comes to the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a series of performances.

    The 313 remaining North American Disney Stores are sold to Children's Place.

    Disney's Chicken Little (the star of next year's animated film Chicken Little) debuts in this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The giant helium balloon measures in at 60.5 feet tall, 26 feet wide and 68.5 feet long.

    A popular Walt Disney World holiday event now in its 33rd year, the Candlelight Processional is performed at Epcot for the first time this season as Holidays Around the World begins.

    The Disney/Pixar animated feature The Incredibles is released in the United Kingdom, one day after its U.S. Release.
