Public Groups

Ok... I'm not a newbie or a novice but I feel like a doofus for having to ask this one.

Under my profile it says that I'm not a member of any public groups. Public groups? What the heck is a public group? How can one join a public group if they don't know what they are?

Public Groups are places like AIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Skype and such. It lists your "screen name" so that other members can then find you there too!

The last time I asked Lou about this, he had told me had this option disabled for DWT. That was awhile ago come to think about it...

On other message boards using similar software, they make use of this option. Lou, so far, has chosen not to. Personally after looking at this option used elsewhere, I think the "groups" tend to be more exclusionary instead of inclusive. I'm not an expert on Lou's motives, but I know one of his goals with this website to be warm, welcoming, and inclusive of everyone.

MBabe....if you look at people's profiles, AIM, MSN, Yahoo. etc. are listed under "contact info." Below the contact info box is another box called "Group Memberships." Under that box, it reads "Username is not a member of any public groups." I think that is what Jenn is refering to...
