Attachments and image sizes

I have recently enabled the ability for images you include in your posts using the IMG tag to appear in the actual post, rather than opening a new window.

However, in order for this to work (so I don't have to spend my child's college fund on bandwidth), please keep your images to a reaonsble size. No need to post a 3 MB 1024x768 image!

Please keep your images to no more than 400x400 pixels, and no more than 50k in size.

Also, please try to refrain from putting images in your signatures.

Oops...I've been doing my photos 700 x 700. Sorry! I'll do them smaller from now on!

From the Technical Questions forum:
You can post as many pictiures as you like into our Photo Galleries. Just click on the link at the top of the page to access the galleries.

From there, click on the Upload Photos link and you can start selecting images directly from your PC to upload. You can create your own Albums, or post the pictures in their corresponding category (e.g. Frontierland, Resorts, etc.).

Now I can't see the picture I added to the reply I posted in the New Members thread. It is saved to my computer and I copied it to the reply.

Any suggestions that I can try?

Ooh, bad Don. I just found this thread. I tend to fairly frequently embed photos within my posts. I've been resizing just about all of my pics down to an 800x600 size (which is significantly smaller than they are in their original state, I might add)... but I will from now on try to cut that in half again. Sorry Lou!

shrinking pictures

open the picture in an editor like Microsoft Photo Editor (comes with Windows)

in the menu there should be a list of links that allow you to resize an image

in MS Photo Editor, it is like this ~
Image --> Resize
it opens a dialog box and you can change your image dimensions there
default usually shows "inches" but you can change that to "pixels"
