the original idea for WSS? Jerome Robbins had at first envisioned Juliet as a Jewish girl and Romeo as an Italian Catholic.
Part of my love for Disney films is because so many are musicals. So thanks to Marie's suggestion and Lou's greenlight, I am starting the Non-Disney Musicals thread. This thread is simply for any musical trivia not Disney related. Questions can be asked on Composers, actors, Tony's, lyricists, Broadway/West End/Tours, Stage, Screen, Name that Musical Tune, etc. Although some of my favorites aren't, I want to remind people to keep the lyrics at least PG rated. Please remember to bold your question.
And if this thread reminds you of something Disney musical related, I recommend these existing threads:

Movie Trivia
Okay, so the first question:
Okay, we know the American Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks are playing the roles of the Montagues and the Capulets in this mid-20th century musical adapation of Romeo & Juliet. However, that wasn't always the case. What were the two "groups" originally going to be in West Side Story?

Ok Name that tune- musical and song:
I hear the human race
Is fallin' on its face
And hasn't very far to go,
But ev'ry whippoorwill
Is sellin' me a bill,
And tellin' me it just ain't so.
"A ****-Eyed Optimist" from South Pacific.
Obviously, part of the title of this song is being caught by the censoring.![]()

What broadway show had a TV doctor star in it?
I'm not sure I know what you are looking for April. Are you looking for a tv character and then that same character appears in a Broadway show? Or just a Broadway show with an actor who also played a doctor on television?
In case it is the latter, here's one:
Evita starred Mandy Pantinkin as Che. He later went on to star as a physician in the television show Chicago Hope as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger.

As I was heading for bed last night it hit me that they wasn't on Broadway, but part of the original cast before it went to Broadway.
So the the question should read "What tv doctor went on to play a character (not the same) in the original cast of a popular musical?"
Sorry I was a little foggy last night.
Hmmm, may I have a hint?

Think doctor in the late `80s.
Was it WILLIAM DANIELS in 1776?
