Thanks for the info. This will be my first time looking for hidden Mickey's. When did they start this?

I think that it was started by the Imagineers when they were building EPCOT Center. The management told them that putting the characters in EPCOT Center would not go with the idea that they wanted, and the Imagineers were (thankfully) outraged with this. They started plading HMs into the park as a joke, and then put them in the MK, too. Eventually, the "secret" leaked and we now have a great time when we look for Hidden Mickeys!
At least, I think that's the story...Steve, you're the expert, is this correct?

You're right on. The official Disney line is that Imagineers began hiding Mickey in the parks in the late 1980's as an inside joke. But Jim Hill (jimhillmedia.com) believes that when the Disney company was designing Epcot in the late 1970's and early 1980's, management decided that characters would be allowed only in the Magic Kingdom. The Imagineers hid Mickey in Epcot as a "silent protest" to bring the Disney characters to Epcot.
