what do they do with the ride parts?

i have always questioned what they did with the props in the ride before they tear it down. Like disneys horizons, it cost them 60 million dollars, it a shame that they would destroy all of that stuff, dose any one know what they do with the ride parts, i know mouse surplus gets little stuff like ride cars and seats but im talking about the real big props like the animatronics.

They recycle a lot of it for use in other attractions, especially animatronics, which can be redressed and reused or cannibalized for parts.

There are parts of Horizons in the TTA. I think it's the lady getting her hair "done."

Other props get sold to an outside party that resells them.

Two of these are sellers on ebay - surpluskingdom and mousesavers.

They have a lot of interesting stuff, but it's not cheap!

http://www.mousesurplus.com has a LOT of the attraction pieces that are retired as well.

Jenn is right, as always. Hehe! Mousesurplus is a great place to find some of your extinct attraction ride elements.

I purchased an armoire from them on Ebay for over $300 and my husband went to pick it up from their "warehouse" in Detroit. It wasn't even a warehouse, it was an old church or theater of some sort in a bad neighborhood. He called me from the place to tell me that there wasn't a single armoire that didn't have something seriously wrong with it! There were drawers falling out, doors falling off, large cracks, and they smelled like alcohol. I've asked for a refund, so we'll have to see how long it will take to get my money back. Bottom line: Don't buy something from them without seeing it first.

I checked out Mousesavers inventory on Ebay - it's impressive!

But then you get a feeling of nostalgia when you're remembering the old rides...

By the way guys, I just checked out MouseSurplus, and they're selling a Horizons ride car and a 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea porthole/seat/seaweed from the ride lot. Plus a seat from the extinct Alien Encounter ride and a ride car from the extinct Living Seas attraction. It's expensive, but they're also really cool to look at!

Bonnie Appetit (from Kitchen Kabaret) can be seen if you take the Backstage Magic tour. She's used as a demo in the shops area. And we saw the Cat/Bat Figment in the wardrobe construction area.
