Vent about a changed Disney detail that annoys you

The food.

When we started going to Disney for a couple weeks at a time in the late '80's the food, especially the counter service was really kinda gross. About 5 years into our long trips it became good. Burgers that tasted like meat, chicken that actually looked and tasted like it should. Now it seems like deja vu. Back to the 80's and the counters seem to be dragging many sit downs with it. Yes, there are a few meals I'd love to enjoying right now but...the great majority have started down that slippery slop down to the late 80's. It is a lot of trial and error before you come up with a few good choices and a great deal of dollars to find those. :cookie:

Definately changing Alien Encounter it was the one ride in MK that really got your heart racing, I'll never forget the look on my aunties face the first time I dragged her on it. :wink:

The only good thing about it is I can ride it with my two nieces now as it is not too scary and they both love Stitch so its nice to see their faces light up when they see their favourite character.

I think one of the reasons why food is getting dragged down is because of the implementation of the Disney Dining Plan.

I agree totally. The sit downs are crowded, push you out fast. The choices are becoming fewer and cheaper. The counters are just yuck lately.
The meat in the burgers changed several years ago, now they went from chicken strips (breast/white meat) to nuggets (who knows what is in there) all the while Disney is claiming healthier? We ate at Peco's a few months ago and ordered apple strips, they gave DD fries, sorry we don't have apples today. Even the latest review I read on Yak & Yeti Counter service was bad and this was by staff of a favorite Disney online site who had been there at opening and backtracked a few months later. You really need to do your homework now to find and pick an enjoyable meal. And I am so sick of that darn Salmon on every menu and buffet. Rant over.

I miss the cappuccino cart in front of Tony's Town Square Restaurant.

We went to Disney Studios on St Pat's day. (When did it change from MGM?) The whole park needed revamping. The voyage to the Little mermaid was lame. The backlot tour was a waste of time. I did love the car stunt show... that was awesome! We ate at backlot burgers and I was disappointed that they no longer have the burger bar where you can add all the fresh vegatbles. However, my wife goot the turkey sandwich and it was very good.

I don't think that the food is that bad. You kinda have to expect a "fast food" type of flavor because of the large amounts of people that are served. When I was down there in April of 2002 (7 months after 9/11) you couldn't walk through Cinderella Castle probably for security reasons- Can you now?

Sky way and 4 words. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride @ WDW. Why in God's name they ever replaced that?!? I told myself I would never ride Pooh but now that I have a child, I guess its just one more thing that has taught me to never say never. UGH!! I'm still mad though.

as far as I know WDW never closed the passage way in Cinderella Castle. I do know that Disneyland closed the attraction that is in Sleeping Beauty Castle and it has not re-opened.

I won't mention any of the attractions I miss since the thread is focusing on the "little" things. Here's a partial list of what I miss:

Mickey shaped butter pats in the sit-down restaurants.
Linen napkins in The Plaza Restaurant.
Menus that varied greatly from restaurant to restaurant. I'm tired of seeing
"Penne Pasta" on every menu!

The Fife & Drum Corp in Liberty Square.
Affordable meals at Cinderellas's Royal Table.
Unique Disney merchandise.
The resort newspapers that you received upon check-in that included a little
backstory on the resort (themeing).

The Clam Chowder bread bowls at the Columbia Harbor House.
The ice-cream socials that American Express sponsored at The Contemporary.
Access to the roof of The Contemporary to watch the MK fireworks.
Package delivery to your resort room.
Tinker Bell zipping back and forth along the loading area of Peter Pan's Flight.
The see-saw rock on Tom Sawyer's Island.
The fountains in front of Pirates of the Caribbean.
The steel drum band in Adventureland.
The Orange Bird at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Adventureland.

That's all I can think of right now. Most of these are little touches that would not cost Disney that much money, but would add to the experience of WDW.

Also the guns at the fort on Tom Sawyer's Island. Did they ever replace those?

Even though I know it's because of DDP, it's still annoying!

I think that DDP is fine, but there should be a separate, smaller menu for DDP and a regular menu for customers not on DDP.

Sadly, the rock disappeared around the same time the old rifles were removed from the Fort.

The Original Chef Mickey's at DTD - My DD was talking about this when she saw me responding to the thread. She still remembers Chef Mickey stopping by our table and trying to get her to eat salad. We have a great pic of DD standing on the Chef Mickey statue that was outside the restaurant.
