elvis, not saying there isn't truth to what you say, sadly, just that it would be blind to judge an entire county, its people and its culture based on one ethnocentric stereotype... at any rate, this is supposed to be a happy site - truce?
I've ridden both and think that it was a fun update. Kids like it and it freshens up the attraction.
Check out free high resolution Disney World Pictures and Disney Vacation information.
I am not a big fan of the update, and really prefer the original ride. I agree that it needed an update, but I didn't think they needed to add the characters in so much.

I basically cried when i went on it. I had no clue it was getting "plussed" and when I went expecting one of my favorite rides, because of its calm, relaxing, and line free atmosphere, i got slapped in the face with this atrocity. I've ridden it on two separate trips since the change, and i'll never ride it again. R.I.P. El Rio del Tiempo![]()

I liked the creepy Aztec guys better than the 3 caballeros. It was more fun the original way.
I agree BellHopper, I loved how calm and relaxing it used to be!!! I miss that.
I liked the update and it was also entertaining for my daughter as well.
i don't like either version. i found the original extremely boring, and i think the Gran Fiesta Tour is a waste of space, they imagineers could have came up with something that was more kid friendly and eduacational

I like the Mexico Pavillion in its entirety, however I did enjoy the old ride. Im not saying at all that the new one is bad at all, it is nice to have characters in the ride now. And i like the part where they are dancing with the umbrellas and one is smoking a little. First time i saw that i told the CM at the unload and he smiled and said yeah it does that, its normal.

Pretty good sure as your born!
I honestly didn't think the Gran Fiesta Tour was that bad, but I loved the old El Rio del Tiempo. The Dia de los Muertos portion was my absolute favorite.
The birds are cute and more kid-friendly, though.
