I miss the "Barker Birds"

Anyone remember when there was a parrot in front of the Tiki Room? (Juan I think) He used to do a spiel to get people to come into the ride. They also had flaming torches around the building. It really looked cool. The Pirates of the Caribbean had a similar bird feature but he was missing feathers and was tattooed. He would plug the ride every few minutes. The cannons around the outside of the POTC used to boom too. I miss all of these little touches.
Why did they stop them? Was it a cost-cutting measure? It used to be better in Adventureland.

I don't remember a parrot in front of the Tiki Room, just the pre-shows.

I don't know about why the POTC parrot isn't there anymore, my only guess is that they got rid of him because he didn't fit in with the movie tie in. If memory serves, I think that's about the time he disappeared. Same thing with the talking skull that used to be in POTC before you went down the drop.

I don't really miss the AA birds to much, though the bird in front of POTC singing Yo Ho was cute. I really liked it if I could catch the AA in that part of the sequence. I was probably more miffed that they took the skull out of the actual attraction though.

Ok guys so the parrots are gone but so has many other little things and we just have to get over it unfortunately.

in POTC I think you can usually find some srt of male CM who is very good at bringing the people in.

Also with the skull... it had to be removed in order to put Davy Jones in, otherwise he would have nothing to say. Although it is annoying that things get changed, thats life, and anyway the skull was old technology and you could start to hear the mechanism move.

Btw whats up with the guy with a bomb in his signature line. He appears to be able to play a certain dwarf whose name begins with G. R. U. M. P. Y.

I never said i was bothered by it. just everytime ive seen u post something you seem really grumpy. just seems odd on a forum about the most magical place on earth...

I may seem grumpy compared to the tone of most of the other posters but I do sincerely love going to WDW. In fact, I'll be there next week. I just miss a lot of the older stuff.

The parrot from in front of PotC is now found in the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney. He's got a different spiel, but it's the same AA.

The talking skull, that one I still wish was there, since he warned of the "rough waters ahead." Now that area is just dark until you go down the drop into the battle. I think it was different enough from Davy Jones' lines, but perhaps the audio from one interfered with the other.

The barker birds were fun. I expect it was the Florida weather that did them in - too expensive to maintain them.

That's just who he is, and we really can't change it. I do agree that it is a nice change to see something other than the usual happy peppy replies commonly found here, BUT I'm not saying that it's ok to post negatively all the time though. There have been times I'm sure we've all had our moments, lol, I know I have

Give the guy a break and let him be. I don't see him harming anyone by sharing his opinions on things.

I have enjoyed it for about 2 years. Maybe longer. I really enjoy it. I have a lot of "favorites" - mostly Disney- imagine that!

I remember the POTC barker bird but noting else. Like someone said he is now in the World of Disney store by the pirates stuff.
